Ferrari are reportedly putting together a schedule of testing for Rossi in 2006 which will see him test at least once a month.
That would get Rossi up to speed in time for 2007. Wonder how true those reports are though. To tell you the truth I don't doubt them though, because why would Ferrari have given him those 2 tests already if there were no plans for him? 1 test I could understand, but 2 tests is more than a gift IMO.

Rossi is a savant. He has so much raw talent it is silly. There is no doubt in my mind that he could leave MotoGP and enter F1 and immediately be competitive, maybe not dominant like he is in MotoGP but within the top 5 drivers. Within a year or two I expect him to be dominating just like he does in MotoGP.

I think Rossi is the only one who could do this. Ever watch a MotoGP race...you will see why.
I totally agree!.. Rossi is definately some kind or prodigy. He has an awesome feel for movement. I think the main thing he has to get used to is the braking distances and then he can be uber competitive..

2 seconds off the lap record in Fiorano is as close as F3000 drivers get.

I get the feeling that Rossi is genetically modified.. The future of motorsport ;)

I would hate to see the super talented, super cool, immensely watchable Rossi in F1: he would inevitably be stifled, silenced and made to toe the line in the end. God forbid F1 could be madeinteresting . Can't watch it these days. Not since Senna died. It's just soooo dull. Maybe if they took the wings off, cut the electronics , reduced the number of wheels, forbade the drivers from mentioning their sponsors... Maybe then it would be worth watching again.

If he does, however, he will need one year to learn and one year to win the championship. Same as ever.

That's it!. gota love how easily Rossi can hijack a championship..

A year to learn, then it's time to dominate!

Quick, make him sleep with danica patrick or that toyota atlantic chick to make some motorsport nuclear super-babies!

They are a genetic breed homologized into what can only be known as: MOTOROSSI! :nervous:

:dunce: 👍

Katherine Legge, I think.

google image, yo. She's not bad, but not stunning either.

edit: Okay, back to Rossi.

I'm sorry, I don't know what you mean. Were they talking about this last year? I have no idea cos F1 sends me to sleep....

I prefer my motorsport to be exciting! See WRC or MotoGP for examples....

WRC...exciting!
Not this year. They've totally ruined that sport with the new rules.

Back to topic,

I'd love to see Rossi in F1. He'd be such a breath of life in the championship.

I love how Rossi is so straight to the point.

Read this. Rossi won't be testing once a month next year ... apparantly.

Ferrari technical director Ross Brawn has admitted that he may 'have got ahead' of himself when discussing plans for MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi to run with the Scuderia on a regular basis.

There has been considerable hype about the Italian linking up with the Prancing Horse, possibly even landing a full-time F1 race deal for 2007 and beyond, but Brawn told journalists in Brazil that earlier ill-advised comments may have fuelled the fire a little too much.

"I probably got ahead of myself because I was asked how do you go about turning Valentino Rossi into a grand prix driver, and to me that is how you would do it," he said about comments suggesting Rossi would test every month with Ferrari.

"That would be the programme to follow if Valentino wanted to go grand prix racing, but he has indicated that he has not made that decision yet, so I think we need to wait and see what he wants to do. Obviously, he is the final arbitrator of what he does - I don't determine that.

"But, if he does want to do it, I think I outlined how would be the best way to approach it. Obviously, he is still in the middle of a championship and is committed to race next year in MotoGP, so we will have to wait and see."

Brawn also admitted that suggestions Rossi had already signed a deal with the Scuderia were wide of the mark.

"I would hope that, if Valentino wanted to get into Formula One, he would do it with Ferrari, because it is a nice combination," he said, "but there is no confirmed contract with him to do so.

"He has done two tests for us now, got on very well with our people, and our guys found it very exciting to have him there, so naturally it is very attractive. But I think he will look at all his options and make his decision when he has to make it.

"As our president said, nobody is holding a gun to his head. He has to make the decisions he feels are right for him. We would certainly be interested in working with him in the future, but that is something that we will have to wait and see. I don't think anything is committed - he wants to get his championship out of the way and decide what he is going to do."

'Despite recently distancing himself from suggestions that he is on the brink of committing to Formula One, Valentino Rossi has admitted that driving for Ferrari would be the 'ultimate challenge'.'

Seems Vale's getting hotter and hotter to have a try and to prove to Shuey he can do it and replace him !

FORZA FERRARI

I don't think Rossi will ever drive in F1 and certainly not for Ferrari. Think about it: he lives in London because he can be "anonymous"; what chance of that if he, an Italian, drives for Ferrari? He's always preferred rallying to F1 as his next challenge (and that would suit him loads better). F1 would be a massive risk to his reputation because it is so car dependant - if his car is not the best, he will not shine. Schumacher is the only driver who has been able to lift not one, but 2 cars to winning status in the modern climate. No-one can assume that Rossi will be able to do that, although, just to confuse you, I do have faith... :odd:

On top of that, he's more or less buried the Ferrari deal. One day F1 will be exciting, but not just yet. Dream on... :sly:

Oh my god. About time Rossi got a test on a track with other drivers! And it was only 1 or two days ago that Ferrari ‘weren’t sure’ if Rossi would test again…

This story keep getting better and better.

Sounds like good PR for Ferrari. Don't really expect him to be top level, but if he's decently quick, he could start the season as a Friday driver.

Ferrari can’t have a friday driver, and I doubt he’d drive for any other team.

Plus, he’s racing MotoGP this year…

If Rossi does make it into F1, hopefully he'll have better success that most other code-changers. Alex Zanardi, the Andrettis, da Matta and co. all had brilliants runs in ChampCar (or whatever it is now) only to bomb in F1. The only real success was JV and to some extent Monty (though I still think he should never have gotten into F1). Ironically, F1 drivers going to ChampCar don't seem to have as many problems (read: embarrasing results), as is the case with Nigel Mansell. Although the one time I remember Rossi getting behind the wheel of a four-wheeled racer in competition was the year in Rally Great Britain when he slid off on the second corner of the first forest stage!

Wonder how Schu would go on a bike?

I only worry about his English speaking skills, I think its more important for F1 drivers to be understood more clearly.

Rossi: "YA DA BIK GO VERY VERY FAST I WIN IS AMAZING I RIDE VERY WELL DA BIK GO NO FASTER BUT WAS ENOUGH FOR ME TO PASS ON LAST CORNER SO I WIN IS GLORIOUS!"
Anyone remember Markku Alen? He used to speak a special reduced Alen-english-Italian: "You know in last stage becoming to problem, gearbox you know" ...

And he spins… after less than a lap. :O

Good old Rossi, What ever happens in that session, the fact remains he is the greatest bike racer ever!

I can already see him leaning in and stuff..
