Rotaries at Midfield - fun open day

Don't forget the 'other' rotaries as well ;) . The RX7 LM is a good drive, and when fully loaded up can match it with any Denso or Castrol Supra that you care to bring its way.

The thing that i like about the rotaries is that alot of people give up on them because they are (in comparison to other GT3 cars) hard to set up. But if you take the time with them, and dial in the suspension and gearing and LSD etc... they are very rewarding to drive.

Can't go past the good ole quad rotor 787B though. The arcade car is a good drive ........ but it is the fully loaded 984hp version that really gets your blood boiling. Do yourself a favour and search through this threads pages and try various peoples 787B settings. I had a great deal of fun in other peoples cars and learnt a hell of alot about how to set up a car to suit my driving. The 787B is the type of car that will react in two ways when you modify its settings ...... it either goes a little quicker ........ or it spins you into a wall killing you instantly! :P .

I actaully was running against my 787B ghost the other day and was suprised how quickly i got close to it (even managing to lead it into the second sector mark). May have to get it out for a few good sessions when time permits to see if i can squeeze past the ever fast Gasman.

have any of you been able to drift in your rotaries???

I've tried but failed misarably, u got any settings for driftings?

Never really given drifting much of a concerted effort in GT3. Cudaman over at the 'GTF' and 'House of GT' seems to be the man who posts the most used and copied drift set ups.

I'm sure that there would be some awesome RX7 Infinii drift rides getting around.

Soooooo close, yet soooooo far away :(

Polished off the fully loaded 787B for a good solid 68 lap spell that saw very consistent mid to low 55.xxx's. Was running against an old ghost (54.982) and managed on one occasion to hit the second split .461 ahead of it before absolutely buggering up the last few sections .... as always! :odd: I can taste a 54.5 if all goes well and the stars and moons of jupiter are aligned all at the same time. :P

After some muttered words under my breath i stumbled back onto the track for another 36 laps when i saw a new PB of 54.675 flash before my eyes. Not enough to set a new rotary Midfield record, but darn close.

Might have a little break and then get back into it for some more laps tonight. :)

54.675 (16.415/33.187)

Rypien, I think you should list the best times per car separately, so that cars would be grouped with best times for each. That way good drivers would have more justice.

But then you would end up with heaps of sub groups. I find that by including all of the times in one list it provides a bit more of a challenge to certain drivers who are using slower cars yet can still be right up there with the faster models.

I also find it interesting to look down the list to see the huge variety of cars that have participated rather then look through hepas of small lists that really mean nothing and give no extra enjoyment. It only takes two seconds to look through the list and find cars of similar make to compare if you want to. Alot of guys enjoy seeing RX7's running with 787B's, and GT2 models competing with GT3 versions.

I understand your point, but i feel that this way provides a bit more of a feeling of a 'fun open day' than by simply grouping the cars into specific groups.

;)

Yo rypien ;) very nice lap mate  watched your 54.6 in the 787  clean as a whistle and fast as fuk  very nice

btw also watched your TT1 in the lotus  soon they'll be changing the name to rypefield raceway

It was part of a zip file containing some x-port replays. I would not have a clue how to put the thing onto video

Where is the xport file? I want to see that lap, its a full 2 seconds quiker then anything I can put up with the 787b. Maybe I can learn from it

787b @ Midfield = 55.504

Go ahead and put that on your list Rypien. There room for improvement on it later.

My splits

T1 = 16.418

T2 = 33.585 =Where Rypien got me I got to find a better line through that double right hander, I remember my previous ghost gaining on me through that turn, also that long sweeping left hander. Thats where Im losing some of the .438

Great time Earth!

I'll update the database right away :)

I've got no problem sending you my x-port replay of my 787B run. I've actually got gasmans 54.666 run as well and it was really frustrating when i ran my PB running against gasmans ghost (i though that i had pipped him but it was not to be :( ;) )

Do you have an x-port?

cheers

I dont have a sharkport yet.

New time

54.688 I dont have a replay because I forgot to save it out of fusteration of not able to beat it.

I did run a 54.635 (have a replay of it) but I got (just barely) 4 tires on the grass in the last s.

What is so fusterating is that I was 1 car lenght ahead of the 54.635 going into the last hairpin, when suddently the car understeared resulting in a 54.688.

Anyways, hf

Hey Ryp, sorry about the long delay on getting the F1 rotors in here, I have been awaiting the delivery of my other 8mb memory card from my house and I guess my dad hasnt sent it yet. GTD season 2 garage on 1 memory card, my hybrids and stuff on another, when i get that other memory card, I will make my rotor hybrids and post my times

cheers

Hey Earth .... can you be sure your time is clean (having no replay to watch and check for mistakes)?

Zero, looking forward to seeing some hybrid times ;) . i'm probably going to run some GTC times in the RX8LM :D

54.666 - Gasman - 787B - 984hp - GT3
cmon give me a break, you expect some one to believe that 54.666 secs in a 787B thats bull come on:odd: if it is true which i doubt send me your settings

I haven't seen Gasmans replay, but as far as i know he's proven it .

But i've seen this one ...

54.675 - Rypien - 787B - 984hp - GT3

Not much between them

Nice run Rypien, might give it a chase someday 😈

hey GT40racer. I've got Gasmans replay on my card and i can tell you its 100% clean and damn fast. Have you got an x-port device? If not, do you know someone who does that you trust so that they can view it?

Gasman is one of the fastest GT drivers ever to pick up a joypad, and he has been around the GT related forums for longer than most. Don't discredit peoples acheivements just because you see them as being unreachable for YOU. When i first started this thread i was running 56.xxx's in the 787B, and through good advice and competition from others over a long period of time we all managed to shave heaps off our PB's. Your time of 57.xxx is a very good start and i would really suggest reading through this entire thread (i know its a bit big) and testing out some of the settings posted and advice given. Have fun and happy hunting.

Don't have mine or Gasmans settings available right know, but if you search through this thread you will find my settings posted, and Gasmans can be found by searching over at the 'House of GT' forums in the 'Gas Station'.

I've also been doing some laps with my GTC RX8 LM and seem to remember 1'03.xxx comming up alot. I'll be having a few more laps this weekend and will post some times.

BTW - great to hear from you lotus350 :) ;)

Sorry, i was using medium tires, thats why i found it impossible, sorry i started a bunch of commotion, I didnt think I was THAT bad
