Excuses are pouring in throughout almost every thread that has anything to do with Round 3. Whats your excuse if you don't make it?

I'll start...

I can't get the car to do what I want it to do, I only did a handful of laps at Indy but I can already see me not closing in on the top 8 unless I can get lucky in some key turns. I can see the line that I want to use, I believe I know the fastest way around the track but I am constantly battling with the car to get it to do what I want it to do, same problem I had with round 1, I just cant feel what the car is doing, when I think I have grip I don't and I find myself fishtailing out of turns or sometimes pushing the front end around too much. I am not giving up...that is my excuse though.

My excuse will be that I can't think of something funny to wear in Orlando so I'll just tank the rest of the event.

Just go in what you normally wear, something like this.

Indy: Throttle control for me. I took the bungee cords off the pedals and it's killing me. Going to put them back on tonight.

Eifel: The GT-R has WAY too much rear brake bias. Hard to get on the brakes as much as I would like without the rear stepping out.

Oh, and I need a better wheel setup.

Took a 2 week GT5 hiatus in between rounds and lost all my skill. To make matters worse, I spent a good 30+ hours playing TDU2 so now I am used to arcade driving with 200 degrees of rotation.

The car/track combos suck. Indy again? I didnt do the GT5 TT demo thing, so those who did will have much more experience than me on this track.

I need replays.

I'm with you on this and lack of time. I'm thinking of trying the squash ball under the brake pedal mod to help with this problem. That and the bungee cords for the gas. I just wish I had ordered the Fanatec GT3 RS wheel with clubsports.......grrrrr

Ahh, the excuses thread. I started playing iRacing, so re-adapting to GT5's (somewhat lacking) physics could probably count as an excuse. It's also a busy week for me as far as school goes, so I won't have much time to put into it. Also, Eifel sucks. (IMO)

On a slightly unrelated note, I hope they at least give out the GT5 collectors editions to the top 16.

I'm with you on this and lack of time.

Oh yes, and time. I have all week after work, but Saturday I am busy with car work and the NASCAR race on Sunday. As far as my wheel, the DFGT is OK except for the pedals, I just need a better stand.

My pedals need to go die in a hole. My time is lacking, so I'm just foregoing sleep for the entire week. Fuelin up on Nos to keep goin :D I should be sick as a dog by sunday.

For me, it would be for lack of experience in sim racing. I have only started playing competitively since December. Surprised I'm even still in it.

I just can't get into the tracks. They both suck. I have always hate Rovals(road course ovals) And eifel doesn't have that feeling. It's too bland flat and dead.

You haven't posted a time at Eifel yet eh?

Indy: my throttle control is limited to the 20 degrees of tilt in front of my right thumb, i dont think i can find any more time here

Eifel: the gtr understeers then oversteers then understeers, it feels like im driving a 4wd hyundai sonata... god i hope nissan isnt reading these LOL

on a more serious note, my gamepad is losing me alot of time. and even if i landed in the top 8 and went to orlando i'd be screwed because i havent used a wheel lol

I have, I'm not to fond of the lack of rhythm of this track. It seems like you should be able to go to the inside of a turn and lay on the throttle to the outside of the straight, but the there is a slightly sharper turn just after that, and not in the direction as your travelling. It would make an awesome drift point track. It seems like the Gt-R could just step out and slide forever.

ATM I'm 6 seconds off the pace for 8th. I horribly suck at this round. I didn't like indy the first time around, I was comfortable with the 3rd iteration of round 2. Oh well, thanks cheaters.

Yeah I'm having the same issues, it doesn't flow at all. The leaderboards are weird for the NE because your time shows up for Indy but not Eifel on the site. Wonder when they are going to fix that.

EDIT: Just saw your edit, that's why I haven't seen you on the list. Just keep cracking at it, eventually it starts to come together in pieces. I spent a bit of time cursing and then started to figure a couple things out, some sections are faster than you think, and others are much slower than they look. I'm sure come Sunday we will see you down in the 2:18's. If we both figure out this bloody track and make it to Orlando I'll buy the first round haha.

If I'm going to make it in this round, it's probably going to be at the #8 position in the Northeast. Going to give it all I have. My excuses if I don't make it: :)

1) I'm in the Northeast, and probably would have made it in any other region
2) Indy is one of my worst courses, literally. Very little experience with it, and was praying that it would not be used again. Having a familiar car helps, though the car has alot of difficulty putting the power down here. Those with a ton of experience and those that have figured out the ideal line and techniques here are going to be in an other league, as is already proving to be the case. A replay here would help me tremendously.

I have no problems with Eifel, and know how to drive the track and car, It's great fun to nail the course, but requires a ton of patience. If I don't make it to Orlando, it's likely going to be because of Indy.

Can't worry about these things though, just have to do the best that I can and keep pushing-

Looks like we're in the same position, as expected :) Having only driven indy once before Round 2 it's definitely not a track I'm familiar with. However, I believe that not having replays will help me tremendously. I seem to find speed by screwing up at random times which with my driving style happens quite a bit :D

Only slight difference is that history dictates that you are faster than me :D

I blame my throttle pedal going 5% on when I stand on the brakes.
If oiling the pin fixes that through I blame my inability be good.

Yeah the NE is ridiculous. Like I said before, I think a min of 2:17 and a mid 1:40 will be needed to move on.

Dude, mine does the same thing, but its worked its way up to 25% all the time :D

I bet I'm more miffed than you are since my pedals are 4 month old Fanatec Clubsports. They might just be too sensitive for GT5, I really wish PD would give us more controller tuning. Don't think I've seen a PC racing game that doesn't let you calibrate your own dead zones. PD has a stiff one for logitech hardware with all sorts of built in mechanical dead zones though, so I doubt that will ever happen.

heh, we can always pretend it's launch control.
standing on the brake automatically raises the revs to 2k priming your launch. ;)

I cant see the snails on the track that are trying to spin out my car on indy... I swear the smallest bumps...

Nah man, it's light breezes, not snails. Or perhaps its the little magic elves who fix light damage....after all, they have nothing to do in the gt academy...
