which Z flavor suits your taste? We all know that if all three were tuned the 300ZX would blow the doors off the other two (i would know, i have all three tuned..).. But stock which do you prefer? You can even say which you prefer tuned as well.. The supercar killer (in its day) 300ZX, or the more modern and tamer 350/370Zs? Have your say below! For me, its the 300ZX, i had a model of one when i was little and in the game its a blast to drive.. Plus the tunability of the thing afforded by the twin turbos can make for a stupid quick car (my tuned one has 664 horsepower and will easily crack 215 mph)

As you pointed out the 300ZX twin turbo is the beast among the three, And the best looking in my eye's especially with a supra style rear wing, Easy win for the 300ZX.

I love the 300zx. Classic bar-none between the three. But I prefer driving the Z-Tune and Superleggera out of all the Z iterations.

I hate the stance and tucked wheels on the premium models of all the Z's.

I'm going for the iconic car of the '90s: the supercar killer, rival of the 3000GT, NSX, FD RX7 and the Supra... The 300ZX baby!! :D

Even though I like the Z33 and Z34 Zs, but old school is the way to go. I had one as well when I was a kid, loved it in GT1, GT2 and TD4. In GT2, I had one pushing 670hp and it dosen't play with the other cars nicely.:trouble: It's a beast to reckon with.

I would love to find one of these in real life also. The VG30DETT is a good engine, even though it has some flaws, but that can be fixed. With the '90s muscular boxy look and sleek curves, t-top or targa top and a front that will eat anything in front of it. Who wouldn't love this car.

One of my brothers works for Z1 Motorsports and they have a widebody, convertible, twin turbo 300zx pushing out 1050hp. I'll get a pic and post it the next time I go there. You might be able to find it here http://z1motorsports.com/

Drifting- 350Z (<honestly)

The 370Z could have come straight from Burnout, except for the driving dynamics.

Style- 300ZX
Driving- 300ZX
Nostalgia- 300ZX

Are you listening Nissan!?

The Nissan 300ZX is a classic. It was part of the three turbocharged Japanese monsters of the 90's, the Mitsubishi 3000GT, Mazda RX-7, and the Nissan 300ZX all battled it out to see which was the best car. Personally, I have a connection with the 300ZX, which is why it's my favorite out of all the Twin Turbo Super Coupe's. My parents owned a '95 (I think it was a '95) Twin Turbo 300ZX before I was born. When I was born however, they needed a car with more than two seats, so they sold it. In 2007 they purchased a '96 Nissan 300ZX (N/A). Shortly after that my two dogs passed away. We still own this car, and though it's showing it's age, the magic is still there.

That magic just seems to be gone from the newer generation Z's. Sure they're faster in a straight line, and in the corners, but you don't get that thrill you get from the earlier Z's, especially the 300ZX. I rode in a 350Z around 2005, before I ever experienced the 300ZX. My parents were extremely excited for the 350Z. "Another Z car!" They said. Something to relive the memories of their old 300ZX. When we test drove the 350Z, I couldn't help but feel underwhelmed. Maybe it was all the hype, maybe not. My parents didn't like the car. They said it wasn't as fun as the 300ZX. They based it on the fact that they hadn't driven a 300 in a very long time, so they must've changed themselves, not the car. Fast forward to the present day. When I was at the movies with my friends, they test drove a 370Z. They got the same feeling, except they knew it was the new generation Z.

I never really understood how important the 300ZX was to my parents, especially my mom. We test drove a Subaru Impreza WRX STi not to long ago, and even though she enjoyed it a lot. She wouldn't give away the 300ZX, not even with the problems it has now.

So why is a car from the 90's way more fun than something from the present day? I really have no idea. The general opinion seems to be in favor for the older generation cars, as has been pointed out in this thread. Most people seem to like 300ZX over the newer brothers. More people I've talked to prefer the RX-7 over the RX-8. The Miata NA over the MX-5 NC. So why? Why do we all like these old cars, that should be outdated? Well I have no way of knowing, but here's my opinion.

Cars were pure mechanics back in the 90's. They brought sheer performance to the table without overly intrusive technology. You felt like you were driving the car back then, not the car driving you. Anymore, and for good reasons, cars are requiring so many safety features. It's a good thing we have these now, as less people are dying in car accidents than they were in the 90's. Back then they had Airbags and Seat Belts as standard, with Traction Control and Stability Control as options. Sometimes ABS wasn't even included as an option. There's a good reason for all these things, it's to save lives, but how long are we from having cars drive themselves for a standard safety feature? Mercedes is already including a feature where it wakes you up. All auto makers are building cars for are the people who want to get from Point A, to Point B, not building cars to enjoy.

Personally, I feel that these cars from the 90's were the last of the amazing cars. You wanted to drive these cars, because they were pure magic. You enjoyed getting from Point A to Point B, because it was fun! Something drivers have forgotten about, and what car manufacturers have stopped catering to. If you want to enjoy these fun cars, then your going to have to pay top dollar. So why would you do that, when you could have a perfectly good car that's more fun, for less?

It's sad to see these cars fade in to the past, it really is. But people have gone on to something else. We can always relive the memories of these cars, remember all the love we found with them, all the love we remember when we gave them away for someone else to find memories, and love with all their heart. Long live the 90's.

The 300ZX, that thing is an amazing car, and I love the styling of it :D Fun to drift as well, never really liked the Z's they made after the 300 Z :indiff: I like the 240 and 260 Z's though.

kasim gilani's remark can end thread

however 240z why did u leave that out

I think it would of been more of a competition if the 240Z (or even the 260Z) were included in this.

By all means then lets include them! Ill edit the original post when i get to a computer, throw in the 280Z for good measure, i was aiming for similar power but if youd like the 240-260-280Zs to be in here then by all means go for it

300 all the way, its the only one to have twin turbos, and they're pretty cost efficient as well.

Well then, I'd go with this order:

1) 240Z
2) 300Z
3) 260Z/280Z
4) all the other Z's after them, lol

Great write up Crispy! I enjoyed reading that :O

I agree, out of those 3 Zs, it would have to be the 300.. I have at least 5 of them in game now! ><

Brilliant post here Crispy, havent taken out my stock 300ZX in a long time, this makes me want to do so!

Can I just say that Crispy really nailed the entire reasoning behind this thread. I agree with everything you say. Mazda really is the only manufacturer building fun cars that everyone can own. I used to work at a Mazda dealer and have referred at least 2 people that have bought one also. Having owned and driven many premium brands, Mazda is the only one that I have ever recommended to people.

Back on topic now, 300zx is my favorite of the three Z sisters. Its more rare now and still looks good even now. Every idiot tuner kid with their parents money has a 350z down here and the 370z is driven by retired 45-65 couples that couldnt afford a Corvette. The 300zx is holding its value better and most were maintained fairly well too.

Thanks, I'll take a look into it more. If I find me a 300ZX, I know my first stop for some parts. ;)👍

You hit it real deep brother! :'')👍

The cars and the trucks of the 90's are the most memorable machines by many who know what they give, the thrill rush. Long live the 90's!!!

Amen.

I have to agree with previous posters. Although 350Z was bit more competitive than 370z which can be seen as failure when compared to other similar cars in year of the first release, engines in both of them are without passion. 300zx had a proper turbo engine. These new ones sound much more dull.

Nobody here seem to realize that of all the 90's Japanese sports cars (Skyline, NSX, Supra, RX-7, WRX & Evo), the 300ZX is the slowest in a straight line and around most tracks. Don't believe me? Buy em all, keep them stock and do some laps. Personally, I like the 370, much funner to drive than the 300.

Yes i understand, i have all the aforementioned cars in stock trim. I prefer the 300 to all but the NSX, granted you do have to work the 300 pretty hard to get the most out of it, and that 4 wheel steering does not make for an easy car to catch if you mess up, but get it right and the car delivers a fun factor akin to the Z4M, and for me, thats saying something, as i absolutely adore my Z4M. i actually do not like the 370

The 370 is like a freakin computer, very boring. All the electronics take the fun right out of it. There is nothing really special, or unique, about the 350 and 370. That is what the zx has in heaps. The new z cars are built to get you there quick, but the zx gets you there with a smile on your face. Thats what I love about it. I think the zx is actually better the R33 GT-R. Thats what I hate about newer Japanese cars. They just try to stuff as many computers and control as much as possible.

/rant over/ Someone take this soapbox from me.
