Royal Mail 1st Class delivery speed?

Hi all

Something has been bugging just now because I ordered a controller from Shopto.net as a birthday present, sent 1st Class on Tuesday and I still haven't received it 2 days later. It's supposed to be delivered within 1-2 working days.

What makes me worried is that my friend's one got sent on the same day from the same place and he got his yesterday. My brother also made an order after mine from the same place and day also received his item yesterday.

Is it rare for it to be this late?

I'm asking because I need it by next monday, so I may just order another one tomorrow and hope the other one turns up as some points to sell. Or claim a lost item to the Royal Mail after 15 days (god forbid).
 
Should be next working day if posted before 5pm. Depends on the size of the package though and possibly where it's coming from.
 
It will be with way before then, don't worry. The best way to guarantee delivery for a set period is special delivery, always gets to its destination when wanted.
 
Yeah, I guess. It's just coming from London. It's just weird how everyone else has got theirs so quickly being sent on the same day. And my brother lives in the same house as me so who knows why it's been held up.

I'll give it until tomorrow and I'll decide what to do.
 
Well, I ordered two items online last monday (yes, it was a bank holiday) and I recieved one of them last saturday. It was quoted at 3-5 days for delivery, but I obviously expected longer with two bank holiday weekends back to back. It says they were both posted on the second day, but I'm yet to recieve the second item :/

I'm wondering if the Royal Mail is just backlogged at the moment with not working for the past two weekends due to bank holidays. I've no idea. But yeah, I'm in a similar situation to you.
 
Well... item No. 1 has still not arrived. I ordered another one on the Friday dispatched same day and that item has still not arrived. So I had to explain to my friend in the end the item never arrived, which is a shame.

Shopto still claim they have sent both items, so I have no clue. I'll have to see if the 2nd order arrives over the next few days. I'm pretty sure the other one is lost inside some black hole now.

Oh, and the sorting office don't have them.

Maybe a Royal Mail worker is stealing them, it wouldn't surprise me.👎 It'll be obvious what they are if Shopto still have their name all over the packaging.

thats why you use tracking information, im surprised the UK hasnt adopted it as a standard.

The Royal Mail still thinks it's the 50's or something. While they do offer some tracking options, some items can only be tracked after they have been delivered.:lol:

G.T, if you live anywhere near Liverpool then that could explain why it hasn't been delivered today, as about 200 staff walked out in unofficial strike action earlier.
 
I live in Portsmouth.

And to be fair I've not looked up whether there has been any strikes in my area. I'll have to investigate.
 
Both controllers arrived today. How odd...

I'm happy though I just have to send the other one back now. :lol:

I've been waiting for a parcel quite a while now; SAL delivery from Japan to Canada...

My waiting time has entered its 3rd week, and according to my short-lived research, SAL usually takes around 2-3 weeks...

This week I've been teased twice. Yesterday a Fedex truck pulled up right beside my house, mailman gets out with a small parcel..... and walks towards my neighbour's door :grumpy:

Today on my way to the Dentist, just as I was exiting the street I lived on and onto the main road, a UPS Truck enters the street I was exiting. I come home and no word about me getting anything is mentioned :grumpy:
