Anyone else interested in the new RSeat N1?

http://www.rseat.net/n1-racing-cockpit/

I'm planning to get one once it's available without the seat (which they confirmed as an upcoming option on Facebook). My one question so far is this: what connecting parts will be involved to attach a different seat, especially to allow it to be mounted using the N1's side panels (and work with the shifter/handbrake mount)? While I'm not ruling out drilling holes if necessary, I'd prefer to avoid that if possible.

I would imagine someone here has done this with some of their previous rigs, like the RS1--and the seat itself looks to be the same.

As I said in VR, for me the seat is to much high. The position is good for truck racing not for GT's racing cars.

Would look forward to seeing your purchase when you get it...

Personally I think it looks like a superb design, very sturdy and a good choice with lots of options for additional hardware. Perhaps yes the seat looks high because of the under frame section but the whole build to me looks like it could be easily modified if required.

Seat Brackets
Your own bucket type seat (assuming it is not an XL width) should match up with the holes/spacing of their own bracket with no problems. Clearly the bracket just bolts to the seat slider and four bolt holes of your seat and looks like theirs allows for a flat, forward or back tilt position to be used. Yes you likely could also drill new holes if you wanted. You could also easily swap these brackets out for a motorsport branded set of brackets while they would need modified to allow the shifter arm to be bolted on or using an additional metal "L bracket", hey its not impossible to find a solution if you really needed or wanted to do such.

Wheel Height
To be fair with no PDF yet, we also have not yet seen how the "wheel mount" can be adjusted and I expect it can be altered to suit different wheels which are different heights too. It clearly has a right angle welded fixing on the main frame that enables the wheel mount to be attached. So if for some reason their design is lacking for optimal positioning to your own preference I believe this is a very doable d.i.y modification too.

Let us know the price without seat and your thoughts, thanks...

The only thing I personally dislike as this will not be a cheap cockpit is the cheapo plastic feet they used. These could easily be swapped/upgraded with something more upmarket looking, perhaps stainless steel ones as they are available in various sizes.

Thanks for the info.

FWIW, what I have in mind for a seat so far would be something like this, though I'm still finalizing it (and hoping I can find an option to order just one vs a pair).

Also, thanks for your input on the feet, which I hadn't considered yet. I'm thinking I may well want to swap them out (and, with hardwood floors, either put felt on the undersides or use a runner, like an IKEA one I saw for about $30.)

My overall timeframe is still up in the air, too, with questions regarding both money and available space to sort out first. There are bound to be reviews/photos up before I get one, though I don't know how many of those people will be swapping out seats. Just doing as much planning as possible in the meantime.

I thought I found a winner here, until I saw the pedals don't move back much at all, so if you have long legs it probably won't fit you. I love how all manufacturers cater to the 'average' heighted people, oh wait, no I don't!

Otherwise, if you are like under 6 feet, this looks like an amazing rig with excellent modular add-ons!

Jerome it states....

"Applicable for users from 127cm (4’2″) up to 200cm+ (6’67″+)"

What I observed from the images was that the floor section bolts to the bottom slider rails but then the pedal top plate can also allow the pedals to be positioned at different positions (see the drilled holes). That is more options than most cockpits I've seen to be fair and with the easy slide option it should give approx 2-3" of travel.

Even if this was not enough how hard would it be to cut/paint a bottom board that is even longer. This could bolt to the slider rails and then allow the standard metal floor to be bolted to it. Simple mod for daddy long legs :)

D Ganji is getting one so it will feature soon on his channel.

Not sure those seats linked would be much better. Seem similar to what some cockpit competitor brands use and I would greatly recommend you check out a local motorsport store to try a few proper race or car seats from quality brands.

I was able to fit a different seat on a RS1 with some square tube then relocated the shifter mount.

I'm wondering how readily that might work on an N1 using its default side panels (since the shifter mount fits on higher than the RS1). If there's enough space left to right, it looks like it would fit.

If not, the question would be what to replace those side panels with that would allow the shifter mount to stay at its normal height.

Good point buddy. I wonder if ISR has a review of this cockpit. He and I are roughly the same height. With the seat sitting higher, the pedal base won't need to be quite so far back.

I just emailed Darin, we'll see what he comes back with.

Great review, but tbh I was hoping Darin would do a review of it because he and I are the same dimensions, Shaun's racing position means nothing to me, sadly. I wonder if I could drill more holes to make the pedal base extend out even further?

Update: I'm talking with the guy Shaun recommended I contact to see about making some personally built adjustments just for me <3 So they're gonna bring in a Playseat Evo and copy my exact dimensions to make sure a rig gets built that I can use. Rad!

The review Shaun did to be fair was in much more detail than ISR normally do and nice to see him get it first. This looks really nice, like the wheel deck in how positional it is too. Great looking cockpit.

The seat base section could easily be modified or extended with a custom solution but if they are willing to specifically do that for customer requirements (additional cost) then that is great also.

Yea, like I originally thought, I may just need them to lengthen the wheel base plate about 3-4 inches and/or add one more hold for the pedals to slide back another 2 inches. I have long legs and like to have my wheel fairly close to my body so I don't get soreness between my shoulder blades. That in of itself rules out about 95% of all cockpits for me.

Here my build of the N1, ordering a Fanatec Clubsport & monitor soon. It's been in storage since February while buying my house. Shaun wasn't joking about spending about a hour unboxing, every part was individually wrapped & braking down boxes, removing staples took a lot of time. The only issue I ran into was on the TV stand, the three holes on the legs seemed to have been drilled on the front of the legs & not on the back, so no adjust-ability, curious if anybody else has ran into this issue. The rig is very sturdy & beats my swiveling office chair. Fortunately this house had dead space in the living room perfect for the rig.

I'm saying it again, this reg is very beautiful, BUT it has a huge miss, the seat is to high and it is far from being a GT cockpit!
I'm really disappointed that all the reviews didn't mention this thing that ruins completely this beautiful reg! It is good certainly for trucks racing but for GT? No way!!!

I think I heard in the Sim Pit review that you can drill a few more holes in the undercarriage of the seat.

Real nice @regnar, congrats on finally getting it out of storage and all built. As for seat/pedal positions, thats your choice but this could easily be adapted. Whatever feels good/comfortable to the user is what counts.

Look forward to see you dressing it up with hardware...
Curious are you buying a new TV or have a current display?

I ask as I found a good website recently that takes gaming (ms) into account when reviewing them including the new HDR feature of 4K displays.

Ordering a new 4K 120Hz LED TV & the Fanatec Clubsport bundle soon, trying to have a setup that's not dedicated to one platform. I've used my office computer for the last few years, but got tired of setting up the wheel & petals each time I wanted to race, this time I'll have a PC build dedicated to just racing.

Hi, it seems lots of things to consider with displays. Response time on TVs will be much worse than monitors, also few properly support 120Hz. Sony had a few models that did but with speckles and again none of the TVs currently support Freesync that I am aware of but this may be changing soon as it is now possible over HDMI. Future consoles will support it too. Gsync will not be supported obviously as TVs do not have DP connections.

Here is a good place for info on some models and reviews on TVs...

Hey regnar, can you take a picture of the rig with pedals in the furthest reclined position and seat in lowest position? Just to see how far away it can be from a truck driving cockpit.

Hope Hermine didn't affect you regnar.

No, I had a rough budget of $600.00 for the TV, ended up purchasing the Hisense 50H7GB2 50-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV, which is the same TV that is in my living room, so I knew what the picture quality & performance is, though initially was looking for a smaller TV.

I also ordered the Fanatec Forza Motorsport Wheel Bundle for Xbox One & PC yesterday, so both these items will be coming next week.

For the last few years I been running my racing games on my office computer, but with this rig I now plan to build a dedicated system for the games.

In the original picture, the seat is reclined as far as it can be, it's not possible to go lower, I guess modifications could allow further changes.

There about 4" of additional travel for the seat to shift back from where I have it. In the original pictures the location of the pedals where too far away, I'm 5'-8" and felt like a kid trying to drive may parents car.

In my build the tolerance was very tight, really had to muscle the seat to slide.

Is that floor mat an optional accessory? If you were to put this on carpet, would it slide around somewhat easily? I'd like it to if possible....

Jerome

@Jerome, The floor map was purchased separably off of Amazon, 6mm ProImpact Treadmill Mat 40x96.

The rig is well over 200 lbs , I've seen someone replace the feet with coasters to make it easier to move

I put the mat down so as to not damage my stone flooring, though it probably wouldn't have.

I joined just to thank you guys for your insight and comments.

I've been using the renn stand since I got back into racing again in the last month, but was looking for a rig. I have been researching a lot and although the n1 is pricey, it is the direction I am leaning (also considering the fanatec bundle, too). However, other than Shaun's review (which was great) there really aren't a lot of other opinions out there, so again, yours were greatly appreciated.

I'm 6 foot and about 250. I like to get up close to the wheel, but still have my legs underneath, so I am a little concerned, but this still looks like a great rig I can work with. I would probably end up putting m8 casters on it as mobility and hiding it in the basement storage is important!

In all seriousness, the RSeat crew will work with you to make sure they ship you a rig that will work for you. When/if I plan on getting a new rig, it will be a (likely modified, longer wheel plate and one more pedal hole for more length) N1 👍
