Rubberband = Human?

Now to think of it, I haven't YET seen any AI rubber banding (though I've done it myself :)) in GT5, but Motorstorm comes to mind easily. Not so much for GT4 (was like 10-11 years old when I got it).

Remember doing one race in a mud clogger/bogger and the AI kept catching up to me and pass me. I swear I got so pissed at that one race and another one...damn semi's kept catching up to my mud bogger and got pissed yet again.

A LITTLE bit of rubber banding is ok...but insane amounts is not ok.

I've seen that too, and it happened to me more than once. But looking at it from a person's perspective, if you spun out at that corner, wouldn't you be racing harder than normal? :sly:

I already lap at 95% when I am leading, suggesting I will go superhuman and gain 2.5 sec out of no where is, sorry to be brunt, idiotic.

The human perspective is already inside me, I don't need the game to exaggerate it even more.

On races like FGT, I'm always trying to beat my best laps, and there are times when I get spun by an AI and get pissed, and end up running 2-3 seconds faster than I've ever gone before, and can't repeat it again.

As a side note, boosting really only becomes apparent in one make races where you can't simply over power the competition. Also, I think boosting is stronger in championships than individual races.

+2 👍
Both points I agree with and have found true 90% of the time.

Rubber banding has been in all the GTs till now and Kaz has said that it's both to keep races interesting and because it would be unreasonable in many of the events to do things like pass a dozne similar cars in one lap without rubber banding.

Personally I find the "overtake all these cars in one lap" to be the most ridiculous events in the game, and completely break any sense of realism the game might have going for it.

They're absolutely idiotic "challenges" which would never work in real life; and the fact that the AI has to be "hacked"/faked to make them work just drives their lack of sense and plausibility home.

Rubber banding most definitely exists in this game, and frustrates the heck out of me :ouch:.
