It's a bit strange because I only deleted the magazine scans from an old copy of PCOTY which I believe had the exact tyre in them about a week ago. I've since overwritten that part of the disc though so I can't recover them. I also can't find the bloody magazine now :(

edit: They're definitely road tyres though, they won't be equivalent to S grade tyres in the game

I would be going for N2 or N3 - license A16 uses an RX7 on N2s and it seems to have more grip than that mad bugger had (no helmet  ). It would be interesting to get a time for that run. It was also interesting to see where he didn't push too hard - particularly comming up to Adenauer-Forst.

Those bikers probably crapped a whale when old Walter Rohrl came howling by in the Yellowbird.

For some reason I get the feeling that he used real tires. You know, the kind you can buy in real life? I know, I'm being a jerk :D Anyway, from the speeds he's traveling I'd say N3s or S1s...which are pretty much the same anyway. Also, there's another video of it with more views, and he seriously burns the tires off of it at times, so whatever gives you a good bit of wheelspin in the stock Yellowbird. There's actually a drifting vid in the drifting video section of a guy doing the same thing in GT4 and he used a completely stock Yellowbird on I believe S2 tires. Might want a bit more wheelspin, so N3s or S1s is what I would go with :)

speaking of the yellow bird, trying putting on some N1's and have your b-spec buddy the to drive a lap 80's fuji

his time wouldn't be all that spectacular...i'm guessing at least 8:30. drifting is far slower than what you see in the above videos [regardless of hp]

street tires, what we know as s1-3 in gt4. i'd be scared ****less to drive a ruf which handles like that on the nurburgring at those speeds.

Yeah, when I drove my yellowbird on GT4, I'm still shocked at how easy it is to lose the rear end in that car. I don't think I would have the courage to drive that car on nurburgring in real life, without alot of traction control, lol.

If you need tips on how to get the most out of your Yellowbird Driving Experience, search for "yellowbird" in the tuning and settings forum. Don't fool with any of the settings though. This car needs to be driven stock.

The Yellowbird thread is filled with many good tips on how to drive it. Many make the mistake of trying to adjust the car. The trick is to adjust the driver.

Regardless of what type of tires they are, they are certainly ready for the scrap-yard after all those drifted corners!
(check the lap #2 video. Cool helicopter shots.)

Was he a passenger then? Since Stefan Roser was driving the Ruf... :)
D'oh! My mistake. I thought it was Walter Rohrl... are you sure?

Wow awesome videos ... I would give my left #$%^ to go as a passenger in one of those round the ring ... especially now that I know the ring

I found the magazine. It doesn't, as I seem to remember, post the exact tyre type, only that the tyres they use are Dunlops. They do, however, say that it takes 5 laps for Stefan to go through them...would S grade tyres last 5 laps drifting all over the place? I wouldn't think so...

Anyway, it's a good read, the pics are fairly big, between 500 and 650k:

You should have a look for the lap of the Porsche 956 driven by Derek Bell completed in 6 minutes 41 seconds.

found it but it's a quicktime movie and he won't shutup so you can't hear the engine/exhaust 👎

Tires look pretty slippery - I would say high end sports tires.

But wow I cannot beleive how much GT4's track looks like the real thing! The only difference I noticed is that the uphill sections look more daunting in real life, but that could just be the camera angle they were shooting from.

I wonder how fast he got on the long straight.

Then don't be a tight sod and go and buy the full DVD (In-car 956 - Duke Video).

On every other circuit (including Le Mans) you get the in and out lap with no commentary, only the flying lap gets it; however due to the size of the 'ring you only get the flying lap.

In-car 956
