GTPlanet, hello again.

If I read correctly from the most recent EGM, there are a few GT4 rumors flying around (among others). Here are some I can recall:

- With New York, Citta D' Aria, and Hong Kong, there are rumors that there will be more street races in Paris (road and rally), Venice... and that is all I can remember, but the list was pretty considerate.

- EGM said that GT4 will ship in Summer 2004, but Sony recently said Fall 2004. Sometimes game dates can be right, and then some can be wrong. We'll see. Just give us a few months.

- (no rumor) the car list will far exceed 500, but I'm not sure that the "778 CARS CONFIRMED!" deal will be a hoax.

- Drifting, snow, and motorcycles have been in the rumor pool according to EGM.

- (no rumor) You can't drive off the cliff of the Grand Canyon (damn!).

- More classic cars and a museum mode are possibly in the works, but unsure if the final product will have it.

This topic may sound pointless to some people, but I want people to share rumors. Because after all, rumors are part-true and part-false. We can be fooled. While my reputation has risen on GTPlanet, I'm hoping sharing these rumors won't spoil the bunch here on GTP.

So if you seen anything in magazines that you are either astounded or concerned about, come on in.

Oh, and this ISN'T a rumor:

Based on a PS2 poll given by http://www.1up.com , the game many PS2 fans are looking forward to is Metal Gear Solid 3 by about 60+ percent. Second place was the next Grand Theft Auto. Gran Turismo 4 was voted on by 12.4% of the audience, if I read correctly.

I'll tell you one thing. You don't look forward to GT4 and you're a racing fan, you're not a REAL racing fan.

I think the reason for the low poll result is because there is no set date yet.

It's the same at www.psmonline.com BTW.
Snake Eater is going to be pretty good, though. It's hard to complain about, since I love both game series so much.

I voted for GT4, BTW. ;)

Or maybe they're just all tired of the rollercoaster release date rumor mill. I know I am. :banghead:

Their source is http://vnet.fc2web.com/gt4p/course.htm

According to gtadvance.net, the list is "semi-confirmed" so don't take this list as if they're all going to make it into the game (although some are obvious). The one that gets me most excited by far is the Nurburgring! It had better be the full track, not the shortened version.

This doesn't surprise me. Gran Turismo is a great series, but come on people ... not everyone likes cars or racing them. And the realism in GT isn't fun for most people. They prefer the arcade feel of Gotham and Need For Speed. But first person shooters like Halo appeal to most everyone.

We are a small group.

Yes it is hard for non race fanatics. I like it becuase it is just like setting up a real car. I also give out as much help to those that need it.

no offence but nearly every thread you make you meantion your post count or your rep, why do you really care out these things?

what?, i wasnt talking to you if thats what you think??

JohnBM01, sorry mate, but these are all old rumours. And most of them have been disproven, or are simply not worth milling over. (For instance, the number of cars. Sony and Polyphony tell ALL journalists the exact same number every time: "over 500" Nothing to debate or even ponder...)

I'll have to disagree; the GT series has sold 30 million copies around the world. And that is second only to Tony hawk pro-skater at an incredible 300 million. In 3rd place was super Mario brothers I believe, with 2-3 million. So GT is the second most popular game in the world even if you divide by 3. I saw this on some Video game show or documentary I think about 8 months ago so i have no link to any proof.

Fortunatelly, no, he is not.

In total, the best-selling game series of all time is Final Fantasy with 44+ millions copies of games sold worldwide in last 15 years, on all platforms.

The best PlayStation game ever is GT series with 33+ million copies. The amount was reached in last Xmas with GT Prologue release in Japan, as game sold in 800 000 copies, pushing the overall number to 33 mil.

Not sure though hass GT made it to 2nd place with that result, but I'm pretty confident it has.

Just notice about that "THPS 300 mill sale": if any game had reached that sales, those people would be billionairs, and they would probably buy EA, Rockstar, Konami and SEGA in blink of an eye.

Unfortunatelly, THPS series has sold in - maybe - 20 million, and I guess that is pretty optimistic too. The total amount of TV-based consoles with THPS released for them doesn't count 300 millions so far, so that number is impossible one.

Well I was serious but now I’m not so sure, but remember THPS is on PC as well. I was quite shocked as well when I saw 300 mill as well. I guess that number could be some sort of a typo or completely fictitious, but why would they lie to such an extent? My cousin also saw the show and saw the same thing I did, so I don't think I’m remembering this wrongly.

I looked for web site with top selling games in the world but could not find one. if anyone knows of one I would like to see it.

Okay, maybe I just have a specialized "personality." I'm just a careful and friendly person, and having done forums for other websites, this one I really feel at home. I mean, I really feel I have a home online, and as a forum guest, we are all people. Maybe it's just my personality that's raising all these questions about my online nature. It's something embedded in me.

So I brought up this topic to maybe discuss and prove the rumors spreaded about since the beginning of the GT4 deal. I considered some of the EGM rumors new since it was a new magazine. And to talk about one, I think motorcycles most likely WILL NOT HAPPEN. However, I think tricycles would be interesting. Just look at Campagna Motorsport's T-REX three-wheeler. It costs about $40,000+, but it is a Moto GP motorcycle at the back, and an F1 race car at the front, and there are still lights and safety harnesses to make it work.

Anyone else?

LINK

"A PAL version of Gran Turismo 4 may not be completed for another year."

Anyone else read this/knows if its confirmed?

i dont want to believe it but i dunno...i wish they would have never said a release date in the first place and when the game was finally done, they would have given us a release date, atleast that way we wouldnt go mad waiting for gt 4 :banghead:

U smell that? *sniff sniff*. Yeah it def. smells Half-Life 2.. Except, we dont get info or fake leaked Betas. :D
