RX-7 Dilemma

So here I am on day 605 and I decided to check the used car lots out, low and behold, there's a lovely blue Rx-7 Bathurst R. Now I've heard some good things about this car, but, I still can't decide whether to go for that or the RX-7 Type R Spirit A which I can buy brand new in the dealership. Now I realize that if I went for the Bathurst I would have to spend 50,000cr. on the body refresh plan since this is a used car, but at this point in the game, money is no option (even though I'm still saving for the black beauties as they have been called).
So basically, what are the difference between these two cars?

:)

I haven't used the spirit-r, but I would get the Bathurst if I were you. They're hard to come across since they're pretty uncommon. You can just get it and not do anything to it for a while. If you choose not to get it now, it'll show up again later.

just buy the bathurst... the dealer car is always available without waiting period... and if money is not an option... leave the bathurst untouched in your garage till after you got the black monsters

Thrasher Has the Right Idea here Mate, Bathurst is a sweet drive, save it for a bit, then use it, or get ready to wait a while for it,

The Bathurst R Type R has 16inch wheels than Spirit R with 17inch. The Spirit R Type A is very stiff, that's all i know.

The way I figured out which car was better than the other, I took each out for some track time on Nurburg.

The Spirit A is, IMO, much more appealing due to the tighter suspension settings, making it a much more stable platform than the bouncy, softer suspensioned Bathurst R. On the Ring, on many of the uneven sections, windy sections, and during heavy braking, the Bathurst R is much less stable, often getting the back end loose versus the Spirit A which does not give you these problems almost at all.

The Bathurst is always there in Used Lot II. Its not a rare car at all.. Quite common... I don't know what you're talking about that its "uncommon."

But on the otherhand, it could be your copy. I see it quite frequently.

Im starting to have handling problems with my 600hp bathurst :indiff: it used to handle all that power like a dream but now it seems to understeer badly, i just wondered if this car might need a chassis refresh?? does this make a marked improvement. i kinda wish the game had some kind of qauge or something telling you the chassis has seen better days i have spent many hours tweaking settings hoping i could get the car back to its former glory........................HELP!!

Im finding the chassis buisness a bit agravaiting since there isnt anything to tell you how many miles or collisions it takes to put it out, i wanna know whats going on damn you PD!!

Well...try the chassis refresh and see if it does anything. You have the money to throw, right? It's not THAT expensive and from what I've seen, it does help. I entered some big races with my 450 HP Skyline R34 and, until I tweaked it right (and of course, some very hardcore driving in order to keep up with faster cars using an unbalanced setup), I hit a number of walls, kitty litter, etc. After a while, my poor R34 started being sloppy in corners and began to understeer quite a lot more than normal so I did a Chassis Refresh and the car was right back to normal.

What is special about the Bathurst R?
There's gotta be a reason for a special name - how is the car different from a typical RX-7? Power seems to be similar and it looks the same..

It seems to me that if the chassis refresh is available to buy, the car probably needs it. If it's checked off and unavailable, you're cool.

Ok i seem to have fixed my handling problems by installing a rear wing, strange i know but it works great and doesnt look half bad on a white rx7, i love this car again! really nice sound when using a racing exhaust 👍

Just found this on the ultimate car page

For the 2002 model year Mazda introduced a special version of their rotary sports car, the RX7 Type R Bathurst R. The limited edition model is based on the Type R, with the highest power-weight ratio among RX-7 series, and features custom height-adjustable dampers designed specially for the limited edition model for enhanced driving excitement. In addition, employing the carbon tone cockpit reminiscent of a racing car adds up to a thoroughly sporty feel. Three body colors are available, including exclusive color for this limited edition vehicle: Sunburst Yellow.
The name Bathurst was chosen to commemorate the Bathurst 12-hour car race in Australia, where the RX-7 has been victorious for three consecutive years (1992 through 1994). Since that time all limited edition versions of the RX-7 have carried the Bathurst name.
Sales of the RX-7 Type R Bathurst R are limited to 500 units for all of Japan.

Features of the Bathurst R
- Custom Bathurst R decals
- Height-adjustable dampers (custom designed for the limited edition model)
- Carbon tone panels (center panel, center console, power window switch panel and small storage compartment cover on driver's side) (manufactured by Mazda Speed)
- Carbon shift knob and parking brake lever (manufactured by Mazda Speed

Basically its the same car

LOL, I actually submitted this thread back on Thursday at around 11:30PM, a message came up and said that it would only take a few hours for GTPlanet to check it over and post it but oh well. Since then I Googled around and found the exact same information that akak just posted, so I went for the Bathurst and I'm happy with it. :)

Its a great car takes hard tuning really well, the 600hp one i have isnt the easiest car to drive but the satisfaction you can get from powering out of slides is unbeatable

also stick a racing exaust on it, the sound it makes is just........................WOW

The Bathurst is not that rare, I see them all the time and have one of each color. There is really nothing special about them either (well, all RX-7's are special to me), it's the same as the RS, just with some decals and adjustable shocks.

The Spirit R is the last model of the RX-7 and it is the most powerful and best handling. I have several of those too.

Wrong, the Bathurst is much more suited to the ring than the Spirit A. Bathurst is a similar, tight windy course to the nurburging just not quite as hihg speed.

I've got them both and like them both a lot. The Bathurst can be equipped with an original (stage5) turbo and an original suspension, whereas the Spirit cannot. I've got my Sprit at a comfortable and easy to drive 4xxhp, while my Bathurst is around 6xx and is a bit more tricky. Go for the gold, man. Get 'em both.
