RX-7 Drift Setup for DFGT?

Don't call opinions openly 'stupid' if you understand that others have that opinion, a bit rude don't you think?

When I started to learn the DFGT, I genuinely brought a 100% stock FC Rx-7 and took it to Tsukuba. I learnt so much by doing lap after lap, and I feel it's the way most wheel drifters should try learning.

Look out! Opinion Police!! No, seriously, he's aloud to say how he feels. To be honest, I didn't find that offensive.

I lol'd when i saw this thread.

First take a chill pill. And second i agree with chris. You can't have an opinion and there call everyone else's stupid. Because you pretty much makes your opinion invalid. Listen to what others have to say before jumping on the gun of "my idea is right everyone else shut up." Haa.

This is one of the reasons why i get fed up on GTP.

More on topic, I though the basic doing suspension, diff tuning and CH tires was enough to start learning to drift. Oh and of course making sure the car was a FR. Then just learn drifting. Whether it's feint, brake drift or just the old handbrake move.

Stating his opinion, fine.

Saying that another opinion is 'stupid' in his opinion, not kewel :)

So how do you describe Nismo's facepalm remark in reply to my opinion???

While I don't claim to have been any kind of angel in the discussion, I feel any further replies should be limited to the original topic as started by DeNySZzMm. Differing opinions are fine as long as they're constructive and targeted toward the topic at hand.

Cool story bro.

Completely unnecessary.

As you clearly don't have anything of any significance to contribute to any part of this conversation, it would be best for you to crawl back into the little hole you came out of and let those of us with any sort of intelligence speak. In all honestly, that includes ProtegeDrifter.

"I'm not racist, I have tons of black friends."

In all seriousness, having drifted all sorts of vehicles and vehicle types on DS3, then DFGT, and now a T500RS, the only part of the initial reply I would agree with is to start with comfort hard tires, as they're the easiest to initiate and are still controllable. I most definitely would have given tips such as opening the diff before anything else, and possibly throwing on the fully customizable suspension to allow for spring rate (stiffer in the rear), camber (more in the front, less in the rear), and toe (start off with slight decreases if a quicker initiation is desired) adjustments. Upgrading the performance should only be done once a driver has gotten a feel for what [setting] gets the car to slide and how controlled it is once sideways. Power can be added judiciously to make up for broad gear splits instead of opting for the fully customizable 'box, but that's only after all other options have been exhausted.

Finally, I see a comment which breaks down drifting tune theory. [there are many on this site but few seem to know WHY something must be tuned and how it affects the car.] Honestly, I welcome stuff like this because I'm horrible at tuning. It's the main reason I came on this forum. Thank you. I appreciate people who take the time, and know how, to break down the specifics.

I thought it was necessary. Where the main guy wanted a FR tune for his car not a MR. Well done. Looks like you done well at school im proud. And don't include me with ProtegeDrifter.

Anyway more on topic :)

Where in hell did you see me saying someone's opinion is stupid... I respect his opinion, but what I said is my opinion, that drifting stock cars is senseless.

Congrats bro. Your 1000th post was you having a go at someone, well done!

Just as well, I'm not about to change just for a "landmark" like that. At least I balance my smartass comments with smart comments.

I'm glad it was helpful, it was the best way I could explain it without getting too into the specifics, as everyone drifts differently and the various camps are much farther removed from one another when it comes to wheel drifting. I'm more than willing to throw out specific tunes that I use with my T500RS on various cars, such as my Spirit R and Amuse S2000 R1, but I can't make any claims that they will be useful for others. Mind you, I actually have a simple suicide knob mounted on mine so that I can throw it around much quicker when necessary.

We should just set aside our own opinions and not criticize each other.
help the fellow drifter that started this thread :D

For the most part, it appears to be a decent tune, but I don't agree with the lower rear ride height or the ridiculous camber, and I'm not sure it's best for someone just starting with a wheel.

No, the best way is a bone stock rx7, no suspension mods or anything, except maybe a differential. Learn from there.

I think we can learn from this taht there is never a solid answer.

Just play with the options and see what works for you, as all of us did in November 2010!

Ive researched and found out that the rx7 is a good car to start drifting with a wheel. I have the DFGT. Is there a setup out there? anyone have one?

I am a GTP Racing School Drifting Instructor. I can help you set up your RX-7 as well as teaching you how to drift it well. PM me if you want to arrange a date.

Everyone learns differen't, its all a matter of style. I learned inna 600HP MK4 Supra, while others used bone stock, low hp cars. Personal preference is all that matters really.

I think my first drift car was a RX-7 or something like that with 300 bhp.
