Well, the difference between the different versions (NTSC-US, -jp, -Chn and pal) are small if there are any.
But for some License tests, there are different setups-
S 16 in PAL and US-NTSC uses the Mercedes Evo II DTM car while the Asia-Versions provide the Sauber C9 in this test.
If you look at the gold time needed you see the gap between the 7´07 in the Evo II while the Sauber requires a 5´49.
Top times for the Sauber are in the low 5´20 range if you need some comparison.;)

damn!!! 5'20 ??? dats fast!!!

Nice one! :dopey: 👍

Well, if you'd quit saying that's the world record, I'd already be satisfied.

Yeah, i guess i should just keep my mouth shut from now on when it comes to S-16. Sorry

Congrats on the 6:49.852 time! 👍

I don't have irrefutable evidence, but current data would indicate that you are potentially faster than anyone on my block.

:)

Oh, That explains why I done 6'55.*** on the PAL version :P

I guess it is just a stock Sauber C9 in the test as I could go away and try it just for comparison.

How come your GTRP entry says 6'50.131?

More important is the questions if the run is within the database rules.
You might know that some People do not agree on the "the time is valid if the game will allow it".
So please provide the replay for your top db-entry on S 16.

One does have to wonder on the wisdom of saying you'll set an S16 time in the next week that no-one will EVER beat, while GoldJunkie and licence-man extraordinaire Flinx is watching the thread... :D

WOW... Flinx... If it's really you....

Will be differnt for slower cars but when your in a big Sauber or anything cutting the grass can cause you to loose time more than gain, well for me anyway as their is allways times when i'm going round and and I end up on the grass and cut a little corner as their is no where else to go and I may think that it's just as fast but when I drive against the ghost reply it can cause me alot of time as it's the speed you get out of the corner aswell. Anyway who would want to cut the grass and what not just to put their time up here?

I think i got a little bit excited back then, disregard that comment,, obviously a person out there will eventually beat it, infact i want someone to beat it

You'd be surprised.

Check the "Question Posted Times" forum at GT3Times. And I'm led to believe that there's already been someone evicted from the WRS in CFM's first week in charge!

People cheat. I have no idea why. That's why major tournaments online are now all 100% X-Port/MaxDrive verified.

Yeah I suppose everywhere you go their is going to be someone that feels the need to cheat.

On a better note, I beleive that i'm pretty good at Nurburgring and know the track pretty well (best time 5.06 in the Playstation Pescalaro) and i'm eager to know about this Xport thing as I can't proove anything with only a screen shot of my time. I have started a thread about this Xport thing but it was only 5 mins ago so it will be up later so I hope to find out alot more from that.

Cheers (Y)

No - it won't be up later. X-Ports have been so heavily discussed that there's no chance of it being approved.

An X-Port (also called Sharkport - not to be confused with a Gameshark) is a USB device which connects to the PS2 and a PC. You can transfer files between the PS2's Memory Card Slot 1 and the PC, and vice versa - so you can pull replay files off your card, post them on the internet, others can download them and put them onto their cards and watch the replays.

The MaxDrive (not to be confused with the AR Max) is the same thing, but in the form of a USB memory stick.

Both cost about US$20 - if you can find an X-Port, since they're now discontinued.

Sorry for being such a n00b on this topic but I have a USB stick and is their anyway that can be programed to act like the Maxdrive or is it something which I need to get.

And thanks for the indo. :)

Your stick will most likely work, but you must have the MaxDrive software to make use of it.

I guess by saying "software" that is the disc that must be inserted to transfer the data over onto the stick? If so then I guess i'm just as well buying the software off a site or something as my PS2 isn't chipped and it wont work with pirate DVD's, well not since I tried before anyway but I think we may be able to try some disks and see if any work on my old PS2 (Some work with the new slim line but I havn't tried mine since the 1st type of disk didn't work)

Thanks

I've always wondered 1 thing about all the licence times. How come the best drivers never post all their licence times and only a select few?

It all depends on the driver. Some of the top drivers are aiming for top spot in the overall point standings and post a time for every license. Others want to drive certain licenses till perfection, resulting in some stunning times.

I did a 6'54'' the other day in PAL version with PAD and I could do better without few minor mistakes, but that's hard on a 7min lap ! Anyway, as said before, it would be nice to see some replays of those guys under the 6'50'' !

I seem to avoid the S-licences because I basically suck at them and only a couple I actually like!
but I do have to go back many times and try and take back the odd 1st place in the earlier sets.... usually I'm lucky to keep a 1st place time for a couple of hours at the most :dopey:

@ Zoky ... Nice battle at A16 recently mate ;) and many others over the last few weeks.

I went to bed last night in 1st place in the RX7 and woke up 6 hours later to Edmars revenge! :D ... having a great time on that one though! and know when we all done and dusted that a low 51 will be nailing that test properly :)

Looking forward to seeing Hugo's database assault also ;)

Gotta love licences

A16 is one of the best licence to me...much fun! :) Now I see that Edmar nailed it very nice 👍 Too bad that I don't have much time to play this last few days...I need to study! :indiff:

I had a stab at the A-16 and managed a 51.937, so its not far off the time edmar did, and i agree zoky, it is a fun liscence test.

cheers, dan.

Still, I ask you how you can be sure it's a world record? I'd rather say it's the fastest time in that database, cause you can't prove noone has ever been faster in that license test.

Cheers,
the Interceptor

You could say the same thing about any track and field event, for example, yet people still hold world records in those things.

No, cause when you do a record lap on a specific track at a race event, it will be officially accepted and proved as a track record. Holl01 said that his time is a world record because it was the fastest time in the GTRP database. But just because the database is accessible worldwide, it doesn't mean every quick GT driver knows it and enters his times.

If you would make an official, worldwide GT challenge for the fastest lap on a specific track, and holl01 would become #1, he would hold the world record. But like this, he "only" has the fastest time in the database.

Though I suspect that the GTRP database is widely accepted as the GT time database.
