Ah, there you have it. I never played GT2, but I played GT1 for a long time and got all gold licenses. So even after a few years off GT, getting all golds license in GT3 was a matter of days.

Yes the S licence is difficult for the average player but I would say no more so than the 1-A licence. If you've got that you shouldn't have any trouble with the S-licences. Except for Seattle of course, can't comment on S 8 as I'm still trying to pass S 2 which is a nightmare to be honest. My best time is 1.37 and Bronze is 1.35 Been trying for the last hour without success. The other licence's I managed to pass after a number of attempts but this is just a nightmare I may have to get a gameshark or something it's driving me nuts. :banghead:

Theres always one thats tougher than the others I remember on GT 1 you had to do a lap of the Grand Valley Speedway in 2 minutes something in a TVR Griffith and I just could not do it for the life of me, it was the last test I needed for the A licence and I was stuck for like, weeks. I actually went and bought a Griffith and went on a time trial drive around GVS again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again until finally I managed to pass the test in the end.

i can't get any of the S licence events done. it's really hard for me, but i later tried to get the S licence for GT2 and i got just about all of them done on one try and on the rally ones i got gold first try. i guess GT2 is a little easier then i remember it to be. GT3 licences are hard to get.

I always wait until the absolute last minute to get the S License. I wanted the Mazda 787b so bad I had to get the license to race the Like the Wind circuit. And it was hell.

The Trial Mountain test was by far the worst, followed by the SS Route 11 with the Griffith. I left both of those until the end.

Seattle was somewhat difficult, but at least with a quicker car if you mess up on a few turns you can still get it back. With that stupid Miata, you have to do the whole track absolutely perfect or you lose that precious half second on the turn and miss your trophy at the end.

I never use the MT on the license tests, and each one I have completed was done with the AT only. Just like in real life. Living in Canada, where the four seasons are: Almost Snow, Snow, More Snow, and Construction, I can't imagine getting out of the driveway and up the street after one of our storms. Quebec is even worse, I pity the people who live there because they literally have snow from like December to the end of April and sometimes into MAY for crying out loud!

BTW I do use manual and I adamently refuse to play any racing game that doesn't have the option of manual transmission. I dirve a manual car in real life. I hate everyone that thinks auto tranny is better bcuz it isn't. Anyway, thx guys!

I understand where you're coming from in real life, manuals kick ass, because auto's generally have less gears and bad ratios. But in respect to the GT games, the auto you use in that game is like a manual that changes for you at the perfect time, and doesn't behave anything like a real auto box. So why would you bother with manual, when you have an auto box that has the same amount of gears as a manual and changes at the right time all the time? And in addition to that, you can change the gearing to suit your driving!!

If they had GT auto boxes in real cars, no one would buy anything else!!

Is the S liscense difficult to get for the average GT4 player? For instance, how long would it take the average GT4 player to beat all of the tests? I'm wondering because it was fairly difficult for me (like it took a good 15-25 minutes per test) to get it, except for the last one which took longer because it's insane.

Thx in advance...

-Mike

I'm an average player, I only get to play every second weekend(Thats when I go to my dads house) and I managed to do teh S lisence fairly quickly. I got the last test with the GT-one in a few trys too.:)

Take two top GT3 racers of equal ability. Same car, same track. One auto trans and the other manual. The manual driver will be at least .5 second quicker per lap.

In the world of online racing ever .001 counts.

I get what you are saying but once you learn to drive the manual trans in the GT series you will be quicker. There may be a few cars that auto trans is faster but they are odd balls, not the norm in the game.

In most situations it will be more than 0.5 secs per lap gained from using MT, sometimes it will be less than 0.5 secs per lap. I wouldn't imagine AT can ever really be 'faster', because MT can shift at exactly the same as AT if you so choose. I'm currently working on S-license test 6, with the viper, and my best time in the first sector with auto trans was 20.434, my best with manual is 20.129. That's 3 tenths in two corners.

It's much harder to be smooth with AT, and to be remotely fast with it you have to drive around it, which isn't helpful.
