S vs P tuning...and does it matter?

if you get aero aid's ( extensions front and rear and wings etc ) on a Premium car and get a standard car of the same make or ( very close) and tune both to the same PP will the Premium by better because of the aero effects?
 
I'm not sure if it really matters. I guess it would depend on what kind of car it is. I've read about some instances where standard cars actually end up being faster. Somebody explained the standard Lotus Esprit was like that. The majority of cars that have standard and premium counterparts can both be fitted with the same parts. If there is a difference it will probably be tiny, because its mostly premium cars that can have front aero at the GT Auto, but most standards and premiums share back wing options. With standard cars you would also miss out on the carbon hood which would take some weight off.

Front aero parts with fixed (unchangeable) front aero do not add performance.(far as I've seen)
 
Try it with a gtr v-spec 09

I've driven that car with stock aero and wheels and then modified aero and wheels, I never found a difference around my home touge course. I could match the stock aero times with GT Auto aero times easily. Maybe it's just me.
 
Strange is the Ferrari SP1
With front spoiler only or without it , i don't feel any difference.But, if you add the rear aerofoil, you can see 15 points of front downforce.

Front 15 + rear aero 25 at the minimum = 40 points of downforce .
This only gives 3PP diference with no aerofoil at all.

Ex: front and rear aero = 15/25 = 583PP

front spoiler only or nothing at all = 580PP

Front aero does not change downforce at all.

Rear wings give +5 minimum rear downforce and +20 max (so a car with no factory downforce will have a range of 5-20). In the case of the SP1, it has 15/20 downforce from the factory. 👍

Good night professor :), what i mean is that the SP1 only have (at least appearing on the setting panel) a front downforce of 15 point when you add also the rear aerofoil.
If you install the front only, no front downforce.

The rear aerofoil have a range from 25 to 40 points.

Max downforce for SP1 is 15 front + 40 rear = 55 downforce points. This represent a gain of 9 performance points


On a normal standard car with rear aero foil from 5 to 20, 20 points of downforce, represent also a gain of 9 performance points

So it seems that in this case, for road cars standard or premium, numbers don't represent the amount of downforce.


For the race cars it seems to match.

Well, with no wing there's no adjustment available for downforce so you can't see what it's "set" to.

Yes, this is all correct. Since the SP1 starts with 15/20 downforce, bringing the rear up to 40 is only a gain of 20 downforce, so the math works out.

Not being able to see the numbers doesn't mean they aren't there.
 
And I say it again, it DOES add downforce on a GTR v-spec 09. Just because the difference is only 2 doesn't mean it's not noteworthy.

I think you don't understand what i wanted to explain. Ok nevermind, it's not important anyway.

Numbers don't represent amount of downforce. That's all, at least speaking about road cars.
 
Here is a list from the top of my head, cars with "invisible" downforce stock.
Audi R8: 15/20
458: 10/20
F430's: 15/20 (including both 430 and SP1)
ACR: 10/20
LP670SV: 10/20
McLaren F1: 20/35 (I think?)

I will try the GTR, but I do believe the front 2 are fixed and stock.
