S10 Cheat

well, kind of a cheat.
I recently finished a second pass through the game and had an interesting occurrence at Sazuka in the S10 event.

You're going up the hill on the back straight after the spoon turn. You get into the high speed left hander but slide right on over the right hand rumble strips. You're gonna be penalized. So, turn it into a positive. You've been turned into a ghost that cannot accelerate...but you still have ghostly powers. Instead of getting on the left side of the track and braking to set up for the final chicane...take to the right side and go STRAIGHT THROUGH the chicane. Straight through the grass, track and cars if they're there. Even if your ghostly period ends and you're still on the grass you won't be penalized again.

This definitely constitutes a 'dirty' run...but hey, you can go ahead and do a clean run another time.

It reminds me of the time I saw Alex Zanardi pass Brian Herta at the Corkscrew turn for first place on the last lap at Laguna Seca. Brian turned down into the daunting downhill chicane just ahead of Alex. Well, Alex (the ORIGINAL Mr. Doughnut) turned in and drove straight through the chicane. Straight through the sand and right by Brian and took the win. - he pretty much knew that the sand wasn't going to slow him down going straight downhill -

You can no longer pull the Zanardi stunt there due to modifications.

ok...back to the cheat. I, in no way, suggest that you should take advantage of a ghost period in this fashion in an online event. But...heck, to complete the game...all is fair in love and war. And completing the game is love & war.

I got gold legitimately, but I guess if you're having a lot of trouble, then this is the way to go.

I tried yesterday with the Ford GT. Professional, all aids off.
But the steering is sooo sensitive! I'm using a G25. I haven't had this with any other car...

Nah, it's not really the way to go. It's just, if you're over the rumbles and gonna be penalized, well, make the best of it.

humpus - (quite a handle by the way ) - S10 isn't easy even with the Ford GT LM. I turned the aerodynamics up pretty high so I could get through the S's and turns fairly well. I only managed 3rd (had 2nd right in front of me at the start of lap 5 but put 4 tires in the sand after the S's and had my work cut out for me to keep third for abou half a lap).

I had to quit racing last night because a guy was doing just what you said lap after lap. Only time I got passed was by a ghost driving through me. I still won easily, but this was very annoying, enough to make me go to HSR, and get punted by a member of a group of not very good drivers, over and over. GT5P sucks right now!! I cant wait for an update.

I had to quit racing last night because a guy was doing just what you said lap after lap.

Now, this is exactly what shouldn't be done.
I only mentioned this in the first place because it was something that I stumbled across while trying to clear the event and I thought it might be a good thing to know for someone else trying to get 3rd place. You don't have to give up and restart the race if you get penalized in that particular situation.

To use this as a TACTIC in an online race is just plain old CHEATING!

I'm going to repeat my disclaimer in the original post:

The same thing happens on the first two corners of Suzuka. Just before you start going into the S-Bends there's always someone who cuts across the grass and they turn into a ghost but dont have to go through the first S-Bend. By the time they go back to normal they are already .700 ahead or something like that. And then to make it worse by the time you get to the 130R just about half the field either cuts the first corner and the second.

For drivers (not Racers) who cant race do this and i think it is discusting. Even though in some intances i can make a great come back and sometimes win the race, but it's worse when the punting begins. When the full game comes out things will be different when we can set up private races with good clean drivers.
