James May will be thrilled. Really good news as hopefully the majority of the workforce can keep there jobs.

That is excellent news! Although as a Saab owner I remain hesitant (but hopeful).

Anyways, this thread is lacking some pics :). Here's a few Saabs:

That’s excellent! Exactly what I was hoping to hear. Can't wait to see the new 9-5 on the roads.
I’m also secretly glad the buyer ended up being Spyker instead of Ecclestone. 👍

Although not being much of a Saab fan (I'm not 50+, yet), as a Dutchman I'm still thrilled that Spyker nailed the deal.

The deal isn't dead yet, the last I heard from the press conference today was that they are still in talks.

And GM back down once more from the deal.

Way to go GM

I was about to post "I hope GM don't play that bitchy game as they did with Opel once more..." but thought I shouldn't be bothered. I can't believe they put people's jobs and income at stake for a deal where they can squeeze out just a liiiiiitle bit more money out of Spyker.

GM ftl. 👎

GM needs to stop playing drama queen and just get down to business like a normal person. Just my thoughts.

GM will treat Saab like their ex-boyfriend, keeping some of their stuff at their place so they have to drop by once in a while to try and get it. You know what happens then.

Frankly, as long as Saab lives, I'm happy. Very happy. Its only a matter of time before I buy a 9-3.

So is this going to be like the Penske/Saturn deal? You know, where the ink is drying on the papers and then GM says, "oh, by the way, we want some voice in how you run things despite proving to be completely inept at doing just that for the past 20 years."

I just hope Spyker or whoever buys them decides to put decent interiors in them. What they look like now is pretty much unacceptable.

See, this is what happens when GM gets dependent on branches like Saab. They can't bear to part with them, even when they need to...

I was thinking that Saab would drop in to pick up a couple of their CD's, talk about how well things are going with Spyker, but then mention how they aren't getting the amount of attention that they feel they deserve now that they're working on a C8 successor. GM is empathetic, and starts hanging out with Saab whenever they're feeling lonely. Then, one night, when they're talking about new engineering ideas after having been drinking for a while, a little bow-chicka-wow-wow goes down... Nine months later, Opel has a new Saab engineered mid-size sedan coming out. Woops!

Trading in Spyker stock has been suspended for the time being. A press release by Spyker is imminent. :nervous:

UPDATE! According to Bloomberg a deal has been made!

I like the analogies, Brad.

Unfortunately, GM is just looking like the girl stuck in high school drama land long after all her friends have moved on. And that's not good.

I'm definitely hoping that that Bloomberg report is accurate. It's been a tense few days with this thing going on.

Spyaabs, I like, I was just sitting here trying to figure out how to combine the two companies' names.

I think I'm going to find a Spyker sticker and put it on our Saab, that's tasteful right :sly:?

Finally, it's over. Although I'm sure 90% of America is asking "Who the hell is Spyker".
