Saab to compete in Touring Car racing?

Rough translation I made from STCC's website:
96 test laps last week. Saab Performance is starting to get ready for a start in the STCC (Swedish Toruing Car Championship).

Saab revealed that 9-3 touring car quite a number of months ago now (story on Jalopnik from Sept 08). Not sure why I didn't post it myself actually! (though I'm sure I posted those pictures of the touring car somewhere already...). But nice translation anyway, thanks 👍

Oh, didn't know. Those news on www.stcc.se came up yesterday, hehe.

Now if only this Saab and the Volvo C30 touring car could make it to international racing, it would be great for swedish car industry and motorsport. Especially now, when Saab is back here.

They should've been in TC racing all along....but this more than makes up for it. :3

Still would like to see the supertouring era saabs...
 
Wow, that's a pretty good looking race car. I would mind rocking one in street trim sans the GT spoiler.
 
Great vid of the racer in action up there, thanks :) I agree, we could do with seeing both Saab and Volvo in the WTCC, would add a bit more variety to the series. I'd like to see somebody taking them into the BTCC too, which already has a greater variety of cars than the WTCC but new blood is always appreciated.
