I'm performing a short skit, which is about a guy who is ugly and a reject who ultimately kills himself. I'm looking for a sad song to play in the background during the skit. I was thinking acoustic or non-lyrical song would be better, and something not along the lines of a love song. Any help is appreciated, need this by tommorow!

Creep....

Ugly guy who kills himself - Creep indeed....

John Coltrane - Alabama
Joe Satriani - Souls of Distortion
Steve Vai - For The Love Of God
Soundgarden - Black Hole Sun

The Satriani and Vai songs should fit the bill almost perfectly 👍

Just about anything by Leonard Cohen... :(

Or 'Starless And Bible Black' by King Crimson,

or 'How Soon Is Now' by The Smiths (it doesn't sound mcuh like a sad song, but lyrically it's very appropriate... "So you go and you stand on your own, and you leave on your own, and you go home and you cry, and you want to die..." Nice one Morrissey... :nervous:

Right now i've got:

* Elton John - Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word

and

* Eric Carmen - All By Myself

When I was young
I never needed anyone
And makin’ love was just for fun
Those days are gone

Livin’ alone
I think of all the friends I’ve known
But when I dial the telephone
Nobody’s home

All by myself
Don’t wanna be
All by myself anymore
All by myself
Don’t wanna live
All by myself anymore

Hard to be sure
Some times I feel so insecure
And love so distant and obscure
Remains the cure

All by myself
Don’t wanna be
All by myself anymore
All by myself
Don’t wanna live
All by myself anymore

All by myself seems like a really nice fit.

You might want to give "Lenny" by Stevie Ray Vaughan a listen. He wrote it as a love song for his wife. Slow guitar, drums and bass. No vocals. I tried to find a clip on Walmart's site, but they don't have it available. It is on the Texas Flood album, and a few others.

Try One Lonely Visitor by Chevelle. I think it would fit your skit very nicely, and it's acoustic. Pretty depressing subject; what's it for?

Actually, when I listen to it, the lyrics aren't quite that depressed, and the chorus isn't that sad, but check it out anyway.

Thanks, I'll give it a hear.

This is for my acting class (not school related)

'(behind) Blue eyes' by 'The Who'.

It isn't acoustic but unless you want classical it'll be hard to find a sad, acoustic song.

"Fade to Black" by Metallica. It's about suicide after not being able to take it any more.

TV Themes - Mash - Suicide Is Painless (with lyrics)

Without a doubt, that's the song you're looking for.

"Suicide is painless, it brings on many changes. And I can take or leave it if I please. And you can do the same thing if you please."

Does it have to be a slow song?

*Heres a good one, Cemetary Drive-My Chemical Romance.

Louis Armstrong - What A Wonderful World

.. seems to be a song that springs up in my mind. Although it's nothing to do with suicide it contrasts very well and brings tears to my eyes even in my happiests of moods..

Hi fellow GT fans.
I ended up choosing All by Myself by Eric Carmen, and it was a great song for the part. I had originally planned to use the song in the background for the entire skit, but my director suggested only fading in during the beginning, faded out during most of the performance, then fading in again near the end (suicide scenes).

For those that are curious about the plot of the skit. I am a ugly child born into a poor family, mom and dad despise me, dad is a drunk psycho and comes home beating me up, in which I end up losing my left eye. Friends and classmates think I'm a laughing stock, etc. I decide to find a job so I can pay for plastic surgery, and give my life a change. But I end up getting rejected from every opportunity due to my appearance. SO I say F it and hang myself. Wow that sounds pretty sad. Thats your basic idea.

Anyways, Thanks to everyone to was kind enough to suggest a song and give me ideas! Audience thought the performance was outstanding 👍 👍 :O

Cool! The play really does sound depressing, but you picked an great song. :)
