I just looked back through the feature list of Safari 3.0. I think everything except snap back, which just goes back to the search results page (which you an get by clicking search again in Firefox), and re-sizable text boxes. And the option to drag tabs off the browser to open a new window. But I can hit CTRL + N, which opens a new window, and drag whatever tabs I want into it from my current window.
I'm just gonna go through the features here and address them...
Did some speed tests, and with FasterFox loaded, I am loading pages at around the same speed as Safari. So speed difference is not a major issue.
The pretty GUI of Safari is lost open me. I like dark themes, not iTunes look... but this is a matter of taste, so its really a mute point.
Bookmarks. Firefox has a windows explorer method for sorting them, Safari uses iTunes. Both are pretty straight forward and function similarly. IE7 does basically the same thing as Safari, just not with the iTunes feel.
Pop-up blocker. Okay, everyone has these nows. So not really a new thing, Apple just likes to pretend it is... kinda like their "Workspaces" thing for Leopard. (Linux anyone?)
Inline find exists in Firefox already. And I think it works better, because I can still use the page while searching it, rather than dealing with the darked out window. Plus Firefox keeps the inline find from tab to tab, making searching multiple tabs easier. Safari has that bright orange box going for it.
Tabs. Yeah, Firefox wins here. We've got those features except the dragging tab onto desktop to make new window. But moving and such been here for a bit. Saving your session and auto resizing of tabs to accommodate more tabs, standard on Firefox.
Snapback. No, Firefox does not have snapback. But then again, snapback just redoes the search and then scrolls that half a page for you. Yay for pointless feature, as I just open results I am interested in a new tab via middle click in Firefox.
Autofill... nice feature, but I never use autofills for the security problems they pose. That, and Firefox and IE7 both have versions that work to various degrees.
RSS feeds... Firefox 2.0 has those as well. So nothing new there.
Resizable text boxes... the bane of web designers. Something Firefox does not have, but then again, not something most people would bother using.
Private Browsing. Firefox has two ways to do this... you can clear all your private data manually by hitting CTRL + SHIFT + DEL (or go into Tools menu), or you can set Firefox to clear all info when you close it. Except you can select what data types you want deleted, which is handy.
Security. Well, they have basically what everyone else can offer. Its just their browser will, as with anything Apple, be targeted by fewer people.
I feel Safari 3.0 is playing catch-up with Firefox and IE7. Sorry you Mac guys don't have a stable version of Firefox to work with, because with my few select plug ins, it pwns Safari 3.0.
