Samsung Galaxy SIII

I have a galaxy s stratosphere,and I have to say its great. It has a KEYBOARD, and feels pretty sturdy and heavy. The galaxy sIII doesn't appeal to me simply because I don't like it when a phone doesn't have a keyboard. And I got this one for a buy one get one free. At verizon. If anything, get the one I'm telling you about.

You may be in trouble soon mate. Soon I would be willing to bet that everything goes to screen only. I also like real keyboards because I have clubbed thumbs. These screen keyboards are just too small for my fat thumbs.

I still have my Razr :sly: Mines finished in Matte Black.:drool: (not sure which gen
though). But, yeah, they are actually quite nice phones.

Anyway, I have made a decision; I AM going to get an SIII (in White :D).

Here's another question; if I set up a contract which, typically, lasts 2 years, am I able to upgrade whilst still I'm still 'paying up' the SIII.

I.e say the SIV (S4) came out next year, would I be able to upgrade phones? And if I can, how does it work?

You should get stratosphere, but whatever floats your boat 👍 anyways I don't think you could. I didn't get this for 2 years. (Contract) however I've never tried actually getting a new phone before the contract was up... if someone sold it on ebay or something, then maybe you could just switch the number. Idk...

Often times companies will force you to renew another 2 year contract with them if you buy a new phone directly from your service provider. The best thing to do in this case is to find the new phone you want unlocked or as I did. Extremely lightly used.

And I'd say don't. You phone is cheaper, but if you don't want a keyboard and can afford it, why wouldn't you go for the faster, slimmer phone, that also has a better screen. I mean, in terms of specs the S III destroys the Stratosphere, with 1.4ghz Quad-Core processor, compared to a 1ghz Single-Core processor.
 
Do they have the Galaxy Note in the OPs country? I know it's kind of big but, for guys like me who carry their phone in their briefcase, it's just brilliant.

Honestly, I've tested both at a testing spot,(I don't remember where) and the stratosphere is bareley slower. And besides sometimes the newest is not the best.
 
I actually tried a SIII(dual core models only at best buy, no quads) today. It's very responsive even after changing quickly from landscape to portrait to landscape and etc, it took only a second for it to adjust while I was watching a ACDC music video. Good speaker built in too. Typing in the landscape mode was very easy(hard to miss the virtual buttons) and even the portrait mode was easy. Of course typing errors such as hitting the wrong button in portrait mode happened 2-3 times while I was typing "google.com". I'm actually impressed that I'm feeling like that I don't need the physical keyboard. If the upgrade deals get good on this phone for me(since my contract is expiring next month), I'll consider it.

Wait until you load apps on it and have a ton running in the background all the time with no way to stop them. My single core Galaxy S crashes constantly from being overloaded. The S III is the infinitely better phone. More ram, more processing power, and better screen. Newer isn't always better but in this case it is.

Happens to me too, but bareley....... imo I like the galaxy s stratosphere better
 
Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 1.5 GHz dual-core CPU with 2GB of internal RAM. The S3 is very fast and has the ram to handle future OS upgrades. I heard something about dual boot options with Jellybean.

iphone4 512 mb ram ( my 2+ year old phone had that much :confused:)

Interesting that the dual core model comes with 2GB of RAM where as the quad core comes with 1GB
 
Canadian version has a dual core with 2 GB ram vs international version quad core with 1 GB ram.

yeh we have the note over here
and tbh its not too much bigger then a SIII, ofcorse it is bigger but there isnt much in it if you put them ontop of each other (i repair both so was able to do this) i find both too big to be honest :crazy:
 
Here's the most difficult question of all...

Blue or White? :confused:

Thing is, IMO, I think the blue looks quite shabby, so I think I can quite safely say I won't be buying it in blue. :)

Now then, White; I do quite like White phones. However, the problem would be keeping it clean etc. Which shouldn't really be a worry, seeing as how my phones are kept (99.99% of the time) In a very decent case. For e.g my current phone (3GS) is kept in a (Real :sly:) leather, wallet case.

So, to summarize the original question:

I will get a S3 (with O2 deffo) in White (providing I get a decent enough case for it). :)

I have nothing against any of the other phones you recommended (HTCs and other Galaxy phones etc.), in the end it was put to (personal) taste.

Oh, and im only set on O2, because it Is the only network with which I get a (almost) constant signal where I live (few miles from the nearest Post Office :p).
For e.g if you had a '3' phone up here you would literally get NO signal EVER. :)

Sure you'll be able to change phone, however you wont have a discount on the new one, you'll have to pay it full price. You'll still pay your old one until the end of the 24 month.
 
At first I didn't know what to think about the Blue phone. I was replacing a white phone and was looking for something different this time and picked up the blue. It's looks much better than it does in pictures but unfortunately I've now covered it with an otterbox.

Yeah colour doesn't mean much to me since a case covers it up anyway. I'd go with the blue as well.
 
Just to throw a spanner in the O2 works:

Look at Gif Gaf. They use O2's network so you get the same coverage. They do rolling month sim only contracts an example being - 250 mins, unlimited data and unlimited texts for £10 p/m. Look into the cost of buying the phone sim free and then going on that deal compared to going directly with O2 for the same package. You'll probably find it works out to be a lot cheaper in the long run.

I did at least for when I upgrade in a couple of months.
 
Samsung Galaxy S2 FTW!!! It's waay better than the S3. I've had the S2 since March and have NO lag whatsoever, custom rom and all. I decided to upgrade to the S3 last week, huge disappointment. Batter life really sucks compared to most phones, the screen is just too big! It has a bigger screen than the S2 but, the same battery?? You would think they would put a better battery in it. Just to compare, on a normal usage day for me (few calls, about 50 texts r/s, internet (wifi/4g), internet radio, camera/gallery etc.), I would get a full day (16+ hours) of battery life charging it everyday and a half. With the S3 I would get a bit more than half of that (10-12 hours).

All in all, I returned it and went back to my S2. I know it's a bit older than the S3, but it's where Samsung perfected the device (with current technology ;))!

If you're set on the S3, get white! It hides the smudges, a lot of smudges, better. I don't know what's up with Samsung, but some of their devices are fingerprint/smudge magnets.

As for battery life. I love my Android devices but, they really need to do something about it. I know they are doing a lot more computing than an iPhone but, the battery life on both of the Android devices I have had is pathetic. My girlfriends 4S battery will go all day no problem. I had to buy a portable 3times charging battery. I only need to charge it once in the middle of the day but they need to do something about it. It seems to be the screen that kills the battery the most.
 
I think this is the greatest phone in existance right now and for the forseeable future. BUT I optes for the Galaxy Note in March so I will have to wait it out, got it for 2 years and then the SIV will hopefully be out. Although, the Galaxy Note is fan-bloody-tastic.

Flippin' eck! THAT is Impressive! :eek:!

My 3GS would be long gone after a short while of doing that 'test'.
For eg. Ive been browsing this site for about 15mins (WiFi/Full Brightness) and it's dropped from 86% to 76% already(!)
Try the same with 3G/Mobile Internet and it would easily be in the lower 60-s (%).

Not good. :(
