Hi,I have a 32'' samsung full HD TV and it won't turn on very often and if it does it won't stay on for to long.
Now this TV has had 2 motherboard replacements and is at least 3 years old.
The last time I got it working,it didn't last a day.
I have a set top box and PS3 connected to it.
Also when it doesn't turn on the red power light isn't on and it makes a buzzing sound and when I take the HDMI leads out the sounds get's deeper and vice versa.
I've looked on other forums and they say it's capacitor failure and samsung use cheap parts,I just wanted to know if I should replace them with higher quality polymer capacitors judging by it's problems?
Also when the TV works there are no problems with picture and sound quality and when it won't turn on,it just buzzes.
I noticed the last time it stopped working I left it for 3 days unplugged and it will turn on but I'm afraid if I turn it off...

Yeah, sounds like capacitor trouble to me, it's about the right age for capacitor plague too. Give it to someone who won't kill themselves (capacitors are very dangerous if you don't know what you're doing) and ask them to swap the probably leaky, bulging caps for some solid Japanese caps. Two years ago I replaced the no-name caps in my 2009 Samsung 226BW for some very expensive, surprisingly heavy Panasonic ones of the same capacitance and voltage rating to fix a flickering problem it had and it has been fine since.

Well I've had a little experience replacing parts on my laptop,so I'm up for some DIY.
Also what types of capacitors do you recommend?
My TV started all this just after the one year warranty coincidentally.:sly:
I'm guessing there's a particular type voltage and hz I need and soldering kit?
I really like it when it's working so I'm prepared to fix it.
I just need to open it up and check the capacitors, find parts and tutorial.
