What do you need in your TV (like 3D, LED, XXX Hz, etc.)? What'll you use it for (like TV only, gaming, etc.)? Is price an important factor? I'm not trying to be annoying, but specifying your needs'll only help 👍.

If you can push your size allowance/budget to 42" I would recommend you seriously consider switching to plasma options (Panasonic or Samsung).

The only significant reasons to go for lcd is if the display must be that size (small), or if you are in a very bright environment.

The potential downsides to plasma are easily avoided through sensible use. Burn in: I am quite sure that all plasmas now orbit the pixels to continually exercise them (mine certainly does), and if you do not display a static image for hours on end, all is fine. Power consumption: yes they consume more power, but it is not a constant. Plasma uses more power depending on how bright the screen image displayed is. Brighter = more power used. When I leave my tv with the intention of going back to it soon after, I switch it to an unused input which produces a plain black screen. The power usage is massively reduced, evidenced by a distinct lack of heat coming from it.

Plasma pros: Black level, motion handling (including 3d suitability), colour reproduction, viewing angle.
cons: Pretty much none if used well.
