"release the hounds"
Has anyone ever followed a driver that kicks up a lot of sand onto the race track at Suzuka? Now it may be my paranoia in high gear again but I'm convinced that there is visible, standing sand left behind on the tarmac. The ill effects of the littered track have included my car suddenly breaking loose and a loss of braking. The effect of the sand lasts only for the current lap unless I'm unfortunate enough to be stuck behind the said "sand kicker" for another go. Has anyone else noticed this?

I'm not sure, but I think that is part of the track texture and is always there.💡

However sometimes when I go through a dust cloud or go off, the grip seems to get a little lower, but I can't really tell.:indiff:

Yep you do loose traction after an off. What I do is wheelspin for a couple of seconds when I rejoin the track to clean the tyres and then take the next corner steady. This for me works and normal traction is resumed.

ps, I drive manual making it easy to keep wheelspinning.

I don't know about losing grip but it's bloody annoying following some git who takes every corner with two wheels kicking up the sand.

STAY ON THE GREY BIT :grumpy:

Hey I am with you. If this game is as real as they say it is. Then Sand on the track makes perfect sense. Especially if you are using Racing Tires (R1 R2 R3). I know in real motor sports, kicking crap back on the track can get stuck to the tires and will make the car handle different. If the same applies if you go off the track, I would think picking up sand and grass on the track would be realistic.

However I have not experience what you have. So you are probably paranoid! :D

Good! I'm not losing my mind. :)

I was in the same boat as you, just never got around to asking anyone. It is amazing to me that even the slightest details/physics have been accounted for. I would never have thought about that if I was developing a game....I guess that's why I don't gee paid the big bucks huh?
Peace

No. You are not crazy. I've noticed this too. When another car gets off the track a little and kick/tracks dirt or sand onto the raceway, it can affect the handling of your car. Another nice touch that I really like is the "dirty air" that the car ahead of you leaves. If you are following another car of the same make and setup down the frontstretch (Suzuka, let's say), your car will lose enough downforce going into the first turn to send you well into the kittylitter if you both brake at the same time - sometimes tagging your opponent. In addition, sometimes you get "slingshot" into the curve a bit by the extra acceleration of the pull of the draft as you close on them at the end of the straight.

Fun, huh?

Well we should be able to test this once private game rooms come around. Or maybe in 2 player split screen mode? Anyone willing to try it out and post results here?

I'd like to believe you, but I think you might be going crazy hehehe

i didn't know about this. in the racing conduct we have isn't it right that we are allowed to have 2 wheels off the track aslong as they are parallel with the track or something?

yeah, i do remember something in the racing conduct rules that two wheels off of the track is ok.

Wow, that's cool they also brought back aerodynamic pressure differences when following another car. They used this in gT2, but then dropped it in gT3 & 4 for some reason.

I gotta get this game soon....

More confirmation!!! I could feel the "dirty air" effect in 750 PP races. Mostly around 200R at Suzuka following in behind another car. I'd usually have to lift and keep some distance to avoid breaking loose. I have not noticed it as much since the latest update.

Good input guys/gals. Confirms the details of the game and illustrated the great game dynamics.
