Help me save Texas World Speedway.

The nearby city is planning on voting to turn it into a neighborhood. TWS is one of the busiest tracks in North America, probably the world, with events being held damn near every single weekend. The owners have recently put a ton of money into the track and facilities and recently attracted a few tier 2 race series, Lemons and Chump races, not to mention the SCCA, NASA, CVAR, PCA, CMRA and other clubs that use it.

I've driven there, I've worked there, I've gone there just to hang out. I can't imagine what I or really any driver in Texas or a bordering state are gonna do without it.

That's a shame. TWS is a great track. Hopefully it can be saved.

It's looking like it's past the point of no return at this point but, we can still hope. A friend had a great idea that the track should be digitized before they bulldoze it! Kickstarter campaign? I-Racing? Kazanori? Somebody please!

It sadly seems not enough people care about TWS going off the number of signatures on the petition. Just hate hearing race tracks being demolished just for more cheap-ass Property value.

Property value is the entire problem. As a racetrack with motivated sellers, it's a single 550 acre parcel that's cheap on a $/acre basis. As developed land, it's valuable both in terms of property taxes (College Station's interest) and sales value (the developers' interest). College Station is still far enough away from the track that I'm a little surprised this is going forward now, but a) it's still just a matter of time as development has gotten to within a couple of miles of the track on Hwy 6, and b) there probably just aren't any other parcels available with TWS's combination of size and highway access.
