Saving Endurance Races?

jctg
Well in one of the other enduros, the Fuji 1000 which is set for 2 hours and 45 minutes, there is no save. Hitting *Start* while running on track or during pitstops only yielded the option to quit or not. No save.

Whether that is the same for the 24 hour races I am not sure. But I wouldn't hold my breath.
But somebody with the game said there was an option to save during the pit stops. That was for the 24 hour races. Others have read the same thing, but we have no idea what the truth is. There are two conflicting stories about saving during Endurance races. Can somebody with the game please find out what the truth is once and for all?

exactly what me and a mate are gonna do, we pick a weekend, and just like a reall 24h race, we will switch turns, and play it from 16.00 till 16.00!

awsomness!
Haha, I have the exact same plan too! :)

I'm sure we'll get this with GT5. It looks like to me that GT4 is still very much an "arcade like" game despite our hopes of something very real. I have yet to see the rainbows we saw in some videos a few months back, as well.

double you...tee....eff.

Arcade like because the time of day doesn't change? Because PS2 isn't capable of something like that so it's acrade like? .... dood really.

It's not a perfect sim, but it is FAR from arcade like. FAR FAR FAR. You don't even OWN the game, I play it for hours ever single day, and it's NOT arcade like.

meh...whatever.

I get the feeling we're just going to have to wait and find out for ourselves.. I think this is one of those roadblocks from the Japanese text... the thing could say "Save" right on the screen, and we'd never see it. Or the manual could describe a method for saving in the pits.. and no one can read it. So we wait.

Which, in all honesty, wouldn't make a bit of difference to any of us. Knowing in advance whether you can save or not doesn't change anything. Either you can or you can't.. either way, however it is.. well, that's how it is. We'll all find out eventually anyway.

i'm nowhere near unlocking the enduro's yet... ~~

by the way.. can anyone tell me how to speed up the b-spec? and how do u get a better driver??? my driver takes nearly half a lap of NUR just to overtake one car...

Well, if you can't save during the race. Make it fun and get a few friends togeather and do it like a real enduro and with out pausing.:D

I'll be Ironmanning the 24 hour races myself. No Bspec crap, just me and 24 hours of driving. + When we get more times databases on the net "gt4times" the races will have their database and its a probality the use of Bspec will be banned during races. It does suck BIG time that we wont see any day to night changes :(

It's not the driver :P Here's what you need to practice, strategy. Practice adjusting his driving level in different areas to catch up, then when your near the tail end, enable the overtake function so he'll get a littl eagressive, this will force the computer to let up a little to let you through, on the Nur you should be able to take first within two laps. To speed it up you have to go to the stat tracker screen and press L1 then RIGHT, and it will adjust the speed up to 3x.

I've got LeMans and have done the 24hr endro AND that let's you save your progress. Why in blue thunder would PD not let you save a race that is extremely long.

Because they're endurances are only 2 hours long not 24... And there's a pause button? 💡

It says real driving simulation, in real life you can't save either.

Sorry I am in a sarcastic mood today...

In real life I couldn't put my greedy hands on a GT40, but in this series I can.
But some have already hit on having their friends/mates doing turns, alas I don't have that option so a save would help.

I don't see why people don't just turn the TV off & pause the PS2.

The lazer stops moving (you can even eject the CD if you want...), it doesn't hurt anything.

I have left my PS2 on for a week straight and its fine.

I read in the PSW magazine, the first magazine in Britain that has reviewd the PAL version and it said that you can save during the endurance races! This has not yet been comfirmed by other mags or the few people that had got the PAL version!

I would love to know the truth from an offical source. As i said a while back 24 hours seems like too much to play at one time

I just finish reading the review of GT4(PAL) in the swedish PS2 magazine SUPER PLAY

they talked about the Le Mans 24hour race in the review and yes it says that you can save everytime you go in to the pits

I've put my hands on a GT40... Roadcar... and only the outside. See, the game is even more realistic than we all thought! :dopey:

actually, i would like to disagree with this.. after further experimentation with B-spec... even on aggression level 1 (the weakest) he STILL runs smack into the wall... the AI driver SUCKS~~

i still haven't checked out the 24hr races, but i can confirm that there was NO SAVE in the 4hr race i did...

I'll be curious how your lap times hold up after 20 hours of concentration. I would think that our brains dont work well under those conditions. Thats why real 24 hours races use teams of 3 or so drivers. So you can rest your "processor".

Not to thread jack but what the heck is all the 3x and 4x stuff about? Is it the level of road rage your B-spec driver has or what? Thanks!

So can anyone confirm if the saving is avaliable in all enduros and if you then still have the b-spec to a-spec and vica versa possibillity, or if the b-spec to a-spec and vica versa option are removed in enduros because of this or can you can only switch less times from the b-spec to a-spec and vica versa or what?

and if saving is possible can you do it every time when you are in the pits?
