I saw the first one last night and the second today, I'd have to say the second is way better but its cool if you watch the first one because it makes the ending to the second one cooler. Sure its your basic gory movie, but the plot twists are awesome :D

I'm glad to hear the second one is better. The first one was pretty good, but it was unique and promising. I'll probably catch the"II" on DVD. 👍

Yeah the movie came out last night. In some of the scenes you can practically feel the pain! And the ending is even more crazy and unthinkable than the first. This is one of the rare movies where the 2nd is better than the first :)

[edited by moderator] do not promote media piracy

Look up the word promote in the dictionary Swift. I didn't promote anything.

It's out on .torrent for those that don't have $11.00 to see it in a theater.

wow where do you live? 11 bucks? Its more like 7 here. no wonder people download movies instead of going to theaters, freaking popcorn costs just as much as the ticket

Just like cable and gas, it's highway robbery. In Oregon, it's about $5(matinee) - $9(regular). Popcorn? You better bring a check book or credit card. :D

When I saw the first one, I thought the "twist" ending was quite stupid and non-sensical. I was skeptical going in to see the sequel, but it being Halloween weekend, and having already seen The Fog, I thought it would be worth a shot. And as it turns out, it is better than the original, by far. The acting is actually pretty good, especially considering that most of the minor characters (the people locked in the house) are relative unknowns and that their characters require them to overact and be hysterical often (which usually results in acting performances that are nearly unbearable to watch). The end twist was clever, and hasn't entirely been done before, and the tension and fear were definitely present while watching, even for someone like me who rarely gets genuinely scared or even uncomfortable watching a movie. Two things I didn't like were 1) that the traps didn't seem, well, "trappy" enough, so most of the deaths weren't so much clever as resulting from an act of stupidity, and 2)as in the first Saw, the gore that the trailers promised, sepecially with a tagline like "Oh yes, there will be blood," was severely underrated. I didn't come to see Saw II so I would miss the actual spiked club going into the back of someone's head and then see them fall facedown on the floor and see a pool of blood seeping out from somewhere underneath them. This is one of the cheapest ways filmmakers can show someone dying without being too graphic. But then again, there's an uncut version of Saw which I haven't seen yet; hopefully there's more gore in that version, and hopefully there'll be a similar version of Saw II when it comes out on DVD.

Definitely worth your money, and if you like to gripe about the price of movie food, here's a tip: don't buy any. Believe it or not, there's no written rule that states you must eat food while watching a movie. Try it sometime. I guarantee you'll survive.

Oh, and I think everyone should watch the downloading movies / piracy talk. Mods are watching, and they're notoriously harsh on users who post about this stuff...

Don't worry, I never do. ;) It's weird. When I watch in flicks in theaters, I can't stand snacking, though I don't mind the drinks. When I'm watching DVDs though, I love eating or snacking.

Yeah me too. I've gotten pretty bored of the stuff they typically sell at movies anyway. Famous Players and Cineplex both have more to offer than popcorn, hotdogs, nachos and candy though. They've got fried chicken, pizza, New York Fries, Taco Bell, and pretzels. Still, I hate paying a premium for food because it's in a theatre on top of already paying a premium for food because I'm eating out. I usually go to dinner before a movie anyway, so I'm not that hungry.

Se7en was brilliant. Saw had good intentions, but it suffered from being miscast, especially in the cases of both Danny Glover, who's gone continuously downhill ever since Lethal Weapon 3, and Cary Elwes, who is incapable of putting on a believable American accent and cannot be taken seriously. But to each his own, I suppose, since a lot of people liked it more than I did. I just can't get that stupid scene of Danny Glover racing to the killer's lair in his car, which was one of the most blatant uses of the "poor man's process" I've ever seen in a movie.

Acting in the first "Saw" were horrific all around, but I thought the movie itself was just few changes away from being a very good movie.

Been meaning to see Saw2, but my g/f is adament on it being 'retarded.' So if I can convince her, I'll go see it in a day or two.

Do you see any links to pirated movies posted in this thread? No you do not.

Just a FYI - lenscrafters.com is having a sale.

I saw se7en but wanst all that impressed, great concept but then end just kinda flopped for me, I dont know perhaps I expected something more dramatic. I loved memento though :)

Just for the record, I think "Se7en" is one of the greatest films. Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt at their very finest. Gwyneth Paltrow and Kevin Spacey were excellent, also. Come to think of it, I don't think I've seen those four actors top their performances in "Se7en".

He's telling you to be careful, you pretty much recommended people to download it if they didin't want to see in the cinema, mods don't like that here, even though theres no link it's still promoting illegal activity. Don't take it as me or anyone else being hostile towards you, just a bit of advice thats all.

The best thing for you guys to do, is stop telling others what mods do and do not like. If you think I posted something that is against the AUP, report it.

Please keep your 'advice' to yourself.

No you didn't link to it. If you had, you'd be on the receiving end of a warning about now. But you did recommend that someone download it and that is frowned upon by the staff here, so be careful what you say to people on this subject. A number of us feel very strongly about piracy.

I'm real excited about this movie, I went to go see it Friday night and got there 30 mins early but it was already sold out. :(

Yeah when I went it was sold out all night long; we had to drive 30 minutes to another theatre farther away in order to see it. I love how people line up to see scary movies on and around Halloween.

I went to watch it today, great film, havent seen saw1 but i still enjoyed it. I loved the twist at the end, leaves it open for another saw film :P

I loved Saw I. Loved. I really didn't think Saw II could be better. But it is. Much better. I loved it. I actually left the theater feeling happy. It was great. I highly recommend it to anyone out there. Go see it. Now.

well im pissed about how up the ass the mods are around here about piracy. i made a thread one time asking a question and they thought i meant piracy, which if they paid attention i clearly stated in the question i was trying to avoid piracy. they gave me a warning because of it and closed my thread; not that its any skin off my ass but it kinda pisses me off about how uppity up they are about it. its everywhere, people do it, the feds arent going to bust down the "GTP door" and shut this place down if someone hints at it from time to time.

I'm not trying to start an argument with you here, but I can't agree with you. I buy my music, movies, programs, etc. I wish I could just "download" everything for free, but it's illegal. Obviously, I have many friends who just download everything(not talking iTunes :D), since like you said, everybody does it. Are the companies ripping you off, when you buy the high priced CDs and DVDs? To a certain degree, yes. Unfortunately, that's same with any business. Gas/Petrol, clothes, electronics, cars, you name it, companies make good profit. But the stealing is stealing, and if gtplanet don't want its' members discussing how to pirate something in the forum, I think that's great. As a society, we should all have that kind of attitude. Not "everybody steals, so it's OK".

I do own (very)few copied or downloaded CDs. But if the CD was actually good, I always buy their CD(I'm guilty on Modest Mouse and Dixie Chicks, but not for long). If I actually downloaded all the music and movies for free, I've probably easily saved myself over $30,000.
