Spam his in-game messageboard to let any potential future traders know he is a scammer. You have to do it as soon as you realise you're being scammed (i.e. you send and then they delete you) otherwise that person's profile will no longer show up in your community section. Spam the hell out of it before it dissapears. I was able to get a good dozen messages up once before it was gone lol. Childish I know, but no worse than stealing someone's car or paint. I despise scammers. I think their ps3 should explode and the debris from the explosion should disfigure them.

These aren't real cars and most of the cars are relatively easy to get. Even if I had been burned (which I haven't), I wouldn't be terribly upset.

KB youre making a name for yourself bro. Keep up the good work, seems you have your problems as well. You do alot of calling out here. Im done with you now. Go worry about grammar issues and your "dealership."

And I was frustrated and made a mistake. Its over and done with.

Thanks guys didnt expect that! FR atsoc75 sent

Playnthru I appreciate it.

Aww man, I would have helped you out too, but as you can see there are more than enough cool people on here to make up for a few bad eggs.:sly:

Sorry to hear! But even more awesome to see the members helping out. Don't let a few bad eggs ruin your game..

Got scammed for the first time today. I have done a handful of trades and enjoy doing it. Now I feel skeptical about trading because there is nothing to do about it. I posted on reputation thread and in OP. No reponse, nothing.

I love this site but Im out two cars and I could have traded with a valued trader instead. What would you do?

Keep backups of your data…no loss, I suppose.
Just use the good ol' USB! :)

USB Stick FTW, but seriously if you do have scammers, then spam them and/ or hit up one of those people like me on the GT5 Marketplace who give cars for free :).

P.S. I too hate scammers -_-

Slashfan
just shurg it off.

I Lol'd!

Next time someone asks me something I don't know I'm going to SHURG

New Internet term FTW 💡

I thank everyone I trade with, again.

BTW, id prefered being scammed for 2 cars rather than buy my 6th ps3.

/edit
Maybe you should had waited 24 hours before jumping the gun.

I get that some people would get upset based on principle, but that was just what my personal emotional response would be.

Yes it is a matter of principle. It is only a game and they are not real items but the principle remains the same. They are stealing from you. If you caught someone stealing from you irl, you would administer a proper beatdown right?

I've never been scammed because I'll just give a car or paint away and ask for nothing in return.

Action Jackson, you are on my Friends List already. When I'm free I will send you a PM and you can pick what you want. :)

Honestly after all this feedback I feel better.

Dont waste your trades! I appreciate whatever I got and everything everyone was going to give me.

Thanks.

Awesome! Don't let your friend borrow your USB/thumb drive or at least keep an extra one. For every scammer there a 20 traders who will give you extra items for what they are looking for. I don't look at it as trading, but as coordinated sharing.

Yeah im officially over it and wont get upset about it again. He tried to clear it up and I respect that although i dont totally agree with him.

Anyways im good and lets get back to trading/sharing!

Mate I would suggest you do what I do PRIOR to trading.

Grab a USB pendrive ( thumbstick or whatever you want to call it ) and Backup your GT5 save to the USB stick, THEN load in and do the trade, If you get scammed, you can simply copy your Save back from the USB to the PS3 and you won't have lost anything ( except your car trade for that evening )

Don't give up trading just because of a few bad apples. I've had good luck and traded with some great people on here. Listen to Gizmo and always have a backup before trading. You never lose anything you trade that way. No way to get scammed.

There ought to be a general guide to trading posted...

my tips:

1) if the person you're trading with is a newbie and you havn't traded with them before, let them send first. If they don't agree, walk away. Established traders with good reputations I'll make an exception for.

2) So something went wrong... don't automatically jump on the guy and call him out for a scammer... he may have sent the wrong car/been busy/otherwise screwed up. Let them have a benefit of the doubt. Work it out. Be polite!

Trades are a 50/50 transaction, and it's all about good communication and setting out rules and boundaries i.e. be specific as to trading dates and what's agreed. Don't let ambiguity catch you out.

Over 100+ succesful trades so far, and over 300+ successful "real world" trades on eBay.

Thanks.

The whole "trading" thing was invented by users. Note that PD use the word "give," not trade. There is no trading system within GT5.

As such, it is all too easy to scam someone. We at GTP cannot prove anyone scammed anyone else because you cannot prove you were scammed. Without that proof, there is nothing.

We therefore cannot allow anyone to announce that someone was a scammer, as no one can prove anything, and it's nothing to do with us anyway. Naming scammers is only going to create huge arguments that we do not require.
