I hope you'll forgive me soon Kemp!:)
Yea for sure! No rancor man:sly: But the reason why I was so angry is cause my nerves weren't calmed:ouch::ouch::ouch: after the crazy game that Spain won against Paraguay:dopey:

I know it was unintentional, it could have happened to me! But after the accident I was unable to keep the car on the track...:grumpy::grumpy::yuck:

I'd hate to think what you'd be like if Spain lost!!:scared:

In future, I promise not to look in my mirror when I'm behind you!

In the wet,right?
Or was there a typo and You meant 1,51?
Either way Your mid 1,51 it's definitely the best possible(for you, others like me can add at least one second to that) without going completely off track in the run off areas at Mobilkurve and Stadium Arena.:sly:

Ah yeah. I couldn't remember the seconds; I just remember the tenths.

I think I will have left my wheel on the side and I would have wished you all a good race ...:nervous::odd:

And no, never look back just before a braking zone or a turn:sly:, this will just cause a crash with another car or a visit to the grass or maybe a wall...:yuck::D

What sort of times are you guys doing in the wet at Silverstone?

Good question (and a reminder)! Because I haven't driven a single lap on the wet so far :scared: And I should do some kind of livery too before the weekend, seems that I'm in a hurry.

Mmm, maybe...You should stop playing MAG,Lassi.:sly:
Can't You recover Your old liveries(beautiful ,btw)from the files You uploaded into Eutechenix Forum?💡

Haha, there's a "practical" reason for MAG. If I play on the late hours, I prefer to play a game that I don't have to use a wheel with, so that I won't wake up my wife 👍

Can't You recover Your old liveries(beautiful ,btw)from the files You uploaded into Eutechenix Forum?💡

Unfortunately I didn't back-up or upload those files anywhere. I only took screenshots out of them :(

Yeah, it's been about a week since I last logged onto the PSN and I have yet to do one wet lap of Silverstone, myself.

Yeah, I just did a quick try of 10 laps too. I was able to drive high 2'05 - high 2'06 with fastest lap of low 2'05. But my setup doesn't work very well on wet. I had a lot of sliding situations etc., so I assume that for example jjaisli (who usually has quite a neutral setup that works both in wet and dry) will be able to clock quicker times. And of course when I'm talking about these times, I'm only talking about the non-alien league :)

Welcome to Silverstone
british_flag_small.gif

And welcome to the 3rd round of the "1996" Ferrari F355 Challenge Season from the Silverstone circuit in Northhamptonshire, England.

Ferarri_challenge.png

This event is scheduled to start at 20:00 GMT on Sunday, 18th July, 2010 at 20:00 GMT. Now that the world cup is over, the race will start promptly, so please be there on time.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

QUALIFYING: 2 laps - conditions 50% dry/wet chosen at random
RACE 1 (Feature Race): - 20 Laps - Dry
RACE 2 (Sprint Race): 15 Laps - Wet

Silverstone_GPmap_2000.jpg

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This information is already posted on the first page but I'm also reposting it here for the convenience of any newcomers. If you're not familiar with the rules for this event, please read carefully! Please also remember that GTPlanet's OLR Rules apply. Please click here to read them in their entirety. Some of the rules listed do not apply specifically to this game. But most of them should be simple common sense.

I will first open a PSN Text Chat room under my PSN ID: jjaisli approximately 5~10 minutes before the event starts and will first send invites to those on my buddy list who are on-line and have expressed an interest in joining this series. You must first join the text chat to take part in the race. If anybody new would like to join, provided there's space in the lobby (16 players or less), you're more than welcome. Just send me a PSN message and I'll send you an invite in return. However, considering the points will carry over from one event to the next, I would like to encourage those who want to join this series to try and show up for every race. Once everybody is securely in the text chat room, I will open a private lobby in Supercar Challenge and then send invites to those already in the text chat window.

LOBBY CONDITIONS
TC: Off
ABS: Off
SC: Off
RL: Off
Transmission: Automatic (which will allow you to choose manual, semi or full auto)
Collisons: Off after penalty except during qualifying (see below for details)
Penalties: unlimited
Setup Restrictions: NONE! You're free to set up the car as you wish.
Grid Order: * see below

QUALIFYING

We will have a two lap qualifying session before the feature race in order to determine grid order. For the first lap, please start off immediately to avoid a penalty but then drive moderately until you build a gap of a least 4~5 seconds to the car in front of you. However, I ask that the first person on the grid, set off at a 'quick' pace to avoid stragglers on his flying lap, who are still trying to build a gap. The second time time across the start/finish line will be your one and only qualifying lap. Collisions will be off during qualifying. If for some reason you have an accident or fall off the track, PLEASE continue your lap and do not go back to the lobby. The following Sprint Race will be run in reverse finishing order from the feature race! Qualifying could be run in either wet or dry conditions and will be chosen at Random before the event starts. Keep it on the track and try to avoid RED laps, which will relegate you to the back of the grid.

As a final word of warning, especially to any newcomers. Larger lobbies almost always suffer some kind of connection problem, the most common being 2 or more players not being able to successfully connect together in the lobby. However, there is a work-around. I encourage EVERYBODY to read through this thread and take appropriate steps. Even if you believe your connection is fast/secure/quick/trouble free, etc, you may unwittingly be preventing somebody else from joining.

:sly: Ahh, the Alien who thought he was really a human--a touching story. Have you looked at the leaderboards, Vompatti? Fair to say that there's at least a little genetic cross breading going on.

Of course I have to admit, I'm at a bit of a disadvantage here. Silverstone is one of the great 'classic' tracks. Although it's been changed and modified so much over the years that's barely recognizable from it's early form. And while I enjoy watching races at Silverstone, and appreciate the track for what it is, I've hated it in every racing sim I've ever played. For whatever reason, I just can't seem to find a proper rhythm at this track. In some corners I feel like I could be going faster (and probably should be) and others like I'm over-driving the car. And that whole maggots-beckets complex is a mystery as I feel like I'm taking the wrong line through there no matter what I do. So I'm not really expecting to do well at this round and will be quite satisfied with a mid-pack finish.

Yes I have. I'm about 10 seconds slower than the WR :dopey:

Just wait for the race day and watch me drive out of the track in some silly situation. Then you'll notice that the genetic cross breading hasn't been that successful 👍

I haven't been a big fan of Silverstone either. But now for some reason I've managed to make my way around the track much better than before and the track doesn't seem so annoying anymore (part from the very last corners).

I don't remember doing any wet laps yet...

Silverstone is very inaccurate in FC and in SCC, and is also not right in Toca RD3. One problem in FC and SCC is the curbs; they are way too high. Silverstone curbs are just not like that. They are quite flat, and in these kind of heavy cars (F355), it should be no problem to use them. But they're just completely wrong in SCC. This makes a big difference because it completely changes how one can attack the racing line.

Another problem in the 3 games mentioned previously is the shape of the track. In FC/SCC, the Maggotts/Becketts section is just completely wrong. Firstly, there is far too much elevation change on the entry. Why did they make it like this?! It's not like that in real, and there are no videos/onboards to suggest it is like this. Secondly, the first left/right of this section is too tight. It should be more open, with usable curbs.

A problem for pad users with Maggotts/Becketts (and maybe wheel users? Maybe not...) is the awkward, changing car handling due to the force exerted by the virtual racing line. If you don't agree with some of the shaded racing lines (as I certainly don't), then you've got your hands full trying to handle the varying car handling, depending on your angle to the shaded racing line. Really annoying. A great example of this is on the National circuit - the entry to Brooklands. The shaded line wants you to go early to the inside. I believe the fastest line here is to stay right and take a late apex. But the braking and steering become inconsistent compared to the way it is on other parts of the circuit, whereas when you stick to the shaded line, you have more braking/steering power.

EDIT: And someone may suggest that this is because the shaded line is rubbered-in or something. No, I don't believe System 3 even knew what that meant!

What the hell is all that cross breading you're talking about? Does it involve baking? :dopey:

:dunce::lol: The spell checker won't save me this time! Let it be said that Aliens sure...cook. ;)

I don't remember doing any wet laps yet...

I could make a comment here about walking on water but needless to say, if you can achieve times in the wet that others strive for in the dry and don't even remember it, you're doing quite well. Although, considering you're nearly 10 seconds off from the first three, I'd say you're slacking. :sly: Those first three times are a bit bothersome.

I long suspected this but was never sure. Watching anything from open wheeled cars to street legal tin-tops, drivers from all walks manage to make that complex look as smooth as glass and seem like a lot of fun. I've never been able to achieve either.

If there was an accurately modelled F1 car in SCC, I'd say it could take the first left/right in 4th/7 gear, maybe 5th/7 at best. In real life, they are comfortably flat-out through that part.

...but anyway, that's not to take away from doing the event on this circuit! Just have to take the course as it's presented in the game.

Now here's a serious lap of Silverstone from Vettel:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HI_tnTZfpn8

Most people seem to get drawn to Copse, Stowe etc., but for me, the highlight is Priory (1:08); carries so much speed through, and going right to the limit on the exit.

I'm always amazed by the fact that the F1 guys don't go near the brakes for the first half of the lap of Silverstone. The first time they touch the left pedal is on the entrance to Stowe!

So far I've only done hotlapping so I decided to try to drive a little bit more like in the race. Less risks, safer lines but still tried to keep competitive pace. To be honest, I think this race will be hard. This track has some places (maggotts-becketts as the biggest of course) that are driven fast and you can gain a lot of time driving with some risk, but if you drive out of the track the price you will pay will be huge. You have to be very precise with your lines and cars weight transfer. And I think this will apply both dry and wet races. It's sure going to be interesting. I might have to re-consider my setup if I have time on sunday, I couldn't get nowhere near to my pb when driving with less risks.

regards :)
I have realized a small video tribute for these beautiful events, the 355 and' my preferred auto ,I hope that you like 👍
I also hope to participate sooner or later....:indiff:life and' complicated :grumpy:

WOW! Fantastic Pino! I love it! So THIS is what you meant by making a video! I completely misunderstood what you were offering when you first mentioned it a few weeks ago. If you don't mind, I'm going to link this video to the first post in this thread.

Bravo!
