@ Steve:

If you drive clean you are always good enough for these events, apeed comes with practise and you'll get there 👍

about the name-tags over cars, yes, you can toggle that on and off during a race, but I'm not sure which button does it (and I don't know if you play with the pad or a wheel). Check the game manual and/or the options screen.

Videos I & II - Silverstone South

This is the entire race. As mentioned above, the sun shining on the TV screen while I was racing made it very difficult to see and that's one of the reason the video looks so bad. It was really a challenge running this race.

I don't have time to do a full analysis but here it is. I will only say, the first 1 minute was absolute chaos but I did my best to stay out of people's way. At 0:37 I hit Dave but this was pretty much unavoidable. And I hit another car at around 0:56 but he was under penalty and I was expecting to go through him. At this point, perhaps I should have waited

Thanks Jeff for sending me proper invitations which allowed me to get into the lobby this time!:)

I really enjoyed the couple of battles we had in the first two races. Silverstone was particularly good with us swapping positons every 5 laps. Well almost! As you can see from about 5:40 on the second video I was closing in and I got a good run on you up the Hangar straight towards Stowe. I moved from the outside line to try and take you on the inside I suddenly found Dave backing right off to let us past. I had to swerve rapdily to avoid him and I have to say that Turner (who had closed up behind me) acted in a very gentlemanly way when he backed off to let me back infront of him after the incident.

Monza wouldn't have been too bad if it wasn't for the disasterous first lap. I think I passed you on the run up to the second chicane but then proceded to slam into the back of two cars (Hartur and New_Soul I think), sorry lads! I'm not looking forward to seeing the evidence on your video Jeff!

Hi guys

I just raced for 6/7 laps at Hockenheim. I was really having a good time, in an interesting battle with Dave for 9th place when after he hit my back and we both went off track I was disconnected from the PSN server.

I really really really got so frustrated that I loose all the feel for driving again yesterday.

What upsets me even more is that this game is as great and joyable as it is filled up with stupid bugs.

ARGH!

Yeah 👍 Really great stuff. :) And yes, I remember the incident with Dave. I had lost a lot of time after a series of poor corner and was using his draft to try and gain speed. But then I realized that swerving out from his draft when you were also coming up behind me was not the greatest idea. :irked: But...you know...what can you do. :trouble::cool:;)

I think in general, aside from the two pile ups (Monza and Silverstone), which can happen when a large field tries to fit through a small hole, people really tried to drive carefully and didn't bully their way through and it showed. Some great racing in this event and I got a lot of enjoyment out of it.

Interesting. I wonder if it was just a coincidence that you two were both disconnected. Either way, very unfortunate. :(

Anyway, on to Monza:

0:20 - I was distracted by a bit of lag there from Derek and lost track of my braking point.

0:48 - I backed off early for the 2nd chicane but still made a bit of contact at 0:52. I didn't even realize until watching the video that I got a penalty there.

1:50 - Pure stupidity on my part. I knew I had to brake late as I was sure Arvore would try to defend the inside. But with the draft I picked up when passing him, I was carrying more speed and braked way too late. :dunce:

2:52 - Oh dear--this race JUST wasn't starting off as I had planned. Learning my lesson after drafting Arvore, I braked very early for the 2nd chicane here, ended up braking much too early and turned in too early as well.

5:12 - Hartur explains that I'm not changing my line fast enough. :D

8:15 - Freeze! I already back off here to avoid a problem with Arvore in this chicane. Unfortunately, as you can see, some odd lag totally caught me out. I've watched this sequence a few times and I'm STILL not really sure what happened. It's almost as if Arvore kept going straight and I simply couldn't turn into the corner.

9:00 - I turn in too tight and make my feelings on this clear. LOL.

9:04 - Too late, I see Hartur coming up behind me. I figured he would go sailing through me (collisions were off after penalty) but the penalty must have just ended because we made contact. I felt bad having held him up and tried to give way once through the chicane.

9:40 - Hartur lets me know what he thought of my pass at Parabolica. :D

9:53 - Hartur brakes a bit early and Turner shows great restraint here. (Thanks)

9:57 - Turner has second thoughts.

0:00 ~ 1:13 - Total nail biting stuff. Ruined by my crap video camera. (Did I mention I was accepting donations?) :D

2:06 - 🤬 ARGH! I can finally see again. Great battled just TOTALLY ruined there. :indiff:

3:45 - You want to pass me here, you'll have to do it off-line my friend. ;)

4:35 - Arvore with a penalty here. Whoa--this is a real déjà vu moment. But I'll take it thanks.

4:55 - AHHHHH! Admit it Steve--Hun paid you to hold me up. ;)

7:37 ~ 8:33 🤬

Probably the best sequence here!

1:06 - I had to back off just a bit here but I knew at this point I 'had it'. Or, so I thought. :irked:

1:19 - Knocking over the scenery--a SURE sign of panic. :trouble:

2:04 - YEAH BABY!!! Take that!

2:21 - Anything you can do I can do bet... ;)

3:47 - ARGH!!! Get out of there. This is a no drafting zone. LOL

4:10 - I've got it...no I don't...yes I do...no I don't! LOL!

5:59 - Go away--go away!!!

6:28 - Here's where I finally made a mistake and it was fatal. Passing on the outside here rarely works. I knew I had to brake "late" otherwise it would compromise Hun's position and possibly force him out which woudn't really be fair. But I left it just a LITTLE bit too long and paid the price.

6:42 - And in a desperate effort to try and catch up, this blunder sealed it. Adieu. Well done Mario! 👍

6:49 - Turner? Oh bloody hell. :scared:

7:48 - Come on, come on, come on!!!! MUST....HAVE....MORE....POWER!!!

7:55 - The game awarded the win to me but I thought it was pretty clear Turner was ahead at the line. Well done mate! 👍

I really, REALLY enjoyed this race. Thanks again to everybody who took part! :gtpflag:👍

Due some connection problems and a big freeze I was only able to take part at the Monza race.
The start was a little bit weird for me. On my screen it seems that the AI took over some cars. So I was not sure if I missed a return to lobby and throttled back for a couple of seconds. Then I realized the show was running.
I had a nice race with Dave at the beginning and towards the end with drivatar. In the race I was lapped by Alan and New Soul. This time it was a bit tricky because with the close gap to drivatar I wanted to prevent that he slips through during lapped. But all went well. At the end I finished ahead drivatar but the result screen shows he was ahead me.
One thing should be changed in the game itself. When you got lapped and the leading car finishes the race you should also finish the race too. No more driving a whole lap and get tackled by the now AI controlled cars.
I hope drivatar didnt feel lonely at least this race.

OK guys, I made some corrections.

1. I changed the heading of the Silverstone results. This was always supposed to be run reverse finishing order from the previous race. I just was a bit ham-fisted when I cut and pasted.

2. I changed the fastest lap of Monza but unfortunately I don't have Turner's 2nd best time. And so we have another bug that that it shows up as fastest lap when it was red. It NORMALLY doesn't so I don't know why it did this time. :(

3. I changed the finishing order for frawe and drivatar at Monza and readjusted all points accordingly.

And so we have another bug that that it shows up as fastest lap when it was red. It NORMALLY doesn't so I don't know why it did this time. :(

the driver that sets a RED fastest lap is not geting a mesage that he is the FL owner,
insted everybody else get the mesage in the race, and the red FL dose not apeare in the results for that driver, it apears for everyboduy else!

i think Turner posted his FL in the chat room after alen acced what color was it..

1'47.xx if i remember corectly..

2. I changed the fastest lap of Monza but unfortunately I don't have Turner's 2nd best time. And so we have another bug that that it shows up as fastest lap when it was red. It NORMALLY doesn't so I don't know why it did this time.

IMHO it never works over the network. Red laps are only marked as bad locally and aren't uploaded to the leaderboard but all other players see all your laps as valid.
The feature was added after release and probably didn't make it into the network protocol.

One thing should be changed in the game itself. When you got lapped and the leading car finishes the race you should also finish the race too. No more driving a whole lap and get tackled by the now AI controlled cars.
I hope drivatar didnt feel lonely at least this race.

A bit lonely but exciting trying to close the gap. Didn't work out completely.
Driving the last lap through the slow AI cars is really dangerous.

Probably the best sequence here!

This was brilliant stuff, better than the Arnoux/Villeneuve battle at Dijon!!! :)

The sequence of overtakings between 2:00 and 6:34 is this:

2:00 - jjaisli overtakes Hun
2:17 - Hun overtakes jjaisli
2:27 - jjaisli overtakes Hun
2:49 - Hun overtakes jjaisli
2:53 - jjaisli overtakes Hun
4:09 - Hun overtakes jjaisli
4:14 - jjaisli overtakes Hun
4:16 - Hun overtakes jjaisli
4:19 - jjaisli overtakes Hun
4:25 - Hun overtakes jjaisli
5:11 - jjaisli overtakes Hun
5:33 - Hun overtakes jjaisli
5:56 - jjaisli overtakes Hun
6:14 - Hun overtakes jjaisli
6:26 - jjaisli overtakes Hun
6:34 - Hun overtakes jjaisli

great battle! 👍

Wow! I didn't realize myself just how many times we exchanged position. Of course this track and this car make drafting relatively easy. And though all those position changes I think we had some minor contact all of twice.

Now if ONLY we could watch and save replays from on-line races...

<sigh>

This would have been epic to watch.

I found particularly interesting and exciting that bit at 5:57 where it shows on the top right-hand corner the message... "GTP_bullie77 is now online" :dopey:

(👍 great race guys... got me in the mood for some laps tonight)

And so we have another bug that that it shows up as fastest lap when it was red. It NORMALLY doesn't so I don't know why it did this time. :(

In my experience, it's as a couple of people have already mentioned; the red-lap system only occurs locally, and between the user and the laptimes DB. But for everyone else in the race, red laps are always displayed to them. Pretty pointless. They were supposed to bring it in to prevent people shortcutting. Completely ineffective.
