The fun factor is drastically reduced in events under such high levels of scrutiny, it was about 50% of my reasoning to stay away this time around

Heh. I'm doing my best to keep the fun factor up there... But yeah, since the "Reverse" direction is usually called out as 'reverse' or 'II', I'm assuming this is the normal direction.

Oh, there is still plenty of fun when running a Boards Challenge, but a whole lot of it is removed due to the 'seriousness' of the competition. I won't be surprised if I never run in anything similar to a BC again... only these low pressure fun events. Besides, I am finding it is TONS more fun when there is a good race for positioning and the points battle is pretty damn tight!

I did my race today. I won't have any time to do it this weekend. The race felt pretty good (not what I want though).

Lap 1: Side to side contact with NSX after long left corner.

Laps 3,5,7,9,10: Brushed outside wall coming out of the fast left, down the hill to hairpin. Lap 7 being a harder brush.

Lap 8: Traffic already? Going down to hairpin, I try to take inside lane of Skyline and Lexus. As I brake, my rear steps out and I end up hitting the wall with my nose. All is okay. I just lost 1.8 seconds.

Lap 9: Pass CZ-3 on the inside of fast left going to double right before going into the tunnel at T1. He adjusted his line for the double right and clipped my rear quarter.

Fastest sector:

Folks, I've run through what I think are the correct results for Rounds 4 through 7. I don't know how they correspond to the numbers ylg has been working with, but I believe them to be accurate and up-to-date. I've posted all the results in the Points & Weights thread for review. I suggest we move ahead to Round 8 using this corrected information, but I'll go with whatever people think.

Well, I got a chance to put 20 oe so laps in on this track tonight. I don't have a lot of experience here. It's a trip in a powerful FWD car, that's for sure. I took my carefully-honed setup that worked well at Sears Point last week and threw it out the window. It worked great on the front half of the track, but the hoopdies on the back half were killing me. By some judicious changes I knocked about a seond and a half off my lap.

Ran my race this morning ... 200kg of ballast really hurts!

The race went pretty well. No significant incidents to report. I beat my best practice lap by 0.025 on lap 6 , but had a little adventure on lap 8 on the double-left after the hairpin that cost me 7-8 seconds I caught lap traffic on lap 8, and had to re-pass a couple of cars after the spin.

I always seemed to catch traffic in one of two spots. Either in the fast left before the hairpin (easy pass) or in the double right after T2, leading into the rollers (a real b***h to pass). I'm really hoping it holds up, and I can at least catch up to QB in the points! My spin's not gonna help, though

I think this time around I was only about 6-7 seconds off pace from a realistic finish (like if we had unlimited attempts), and the unrealistic 'perfect' race would add another 5 seconds to that.

Something tells me that the Protege and BMW are going to be a bit faster on this track, its quite similar to Deep Forest in high speed turns with minimal braking zones.

Best splits in race were... uh...
32.273 and 1'11.410 (not on the same lap, and neither were a part of the fastest lap)

Best splits in practice were about:
32.020 and 1'10.840 with my best lap being about 0.800 ahead of my best race lap...

Results submitted. My field was an Evo IV, 350Z roadster, RX-7 RS, Mercedes CL600, SVT Cobra, in that order.

I got around everybody on the first lap, starting with the Mustang right at the start/finish line, and ending with the Evo IV at the fast right/left before the last big left sweeper. After that, I was in the clear and only had myself as competition. I drove pretty conservatively, because my practice and warmup laps had been somewhat inconsistent. The long laps meant the field spread out, so I encountered lap traffic on 8, 9, and 10, adding about a second to each lap.

Fastest race lap was about 0.800" slower than fastest practice lap, unlike last week. The uneven pavement on the back half of the track made it hard to get the power down.

WOOHOOO! I really wasn't anticipating a win!... I thought I might get on podium, but i'll take the win ... I'm going to chalk it up to my having tons of experience on Capitan (I really like this track)

Congrats to YLG and bob for rounding out the podium.

I think this is one of the most spread out fields we've had all season! (I have a feeling that has something to do with track knowledge)

Does anyone have any lap times they can post? - i just couldn't get my head around adding up my lap times - and i'm sure i couldn't be 3 seconds a lap slower than everyone else.
