The reason why they were so anal about the seats was because all the available seats were sold out and to make sure someone without a seated ticket didn't steal someone's seat, the event security had to check tickets. I was able to get the seat I got by telling the security that I "dropped" my ticket.

It wasn't necessarily that. My Aunt's and Cousin's seats were in a different area than mine and my brothers, but we were in the stands early so hardly anyone was there. They were just hanging out with us for a while and the lady there got upset because I told her that they would go to their correct seats when it started filling in. She had to go get her "supervisor" who in turn told us it was OK for the time being. :dunce:

Admittedly I thought the brz was full of alcantara and leather... Looks like the seats are straight leather on the edges and alcantara on the rest. Maybe my eyes are mistaken.
Or maybe someone confused the words throughout and nothing but... I don't recall saying nothing but alcantara was in the brz. Likewise, after looking at the brz website for the 100th time I can say confidently the seats of the brz are indeed alcantara with little bits of normal leather trim.

Also, how does the genesis not warrant comparison with the BRZ?
That said, the response from exzee is close to what I expected the whole time.

There's no confusion. The Limited has alcantara seat inserts and some leather, I believe. So if by alcantara throughout you mean just seat inserts, then yes, the brz has that, just not on the $25k $26k model.
The 2011 Genesis coupe has a nicer interior than wrx/sti, can't say the same for the 2008 or whenever the car launched, therefore it's also nicer than the brz.
I don't own an sti or wrx or brz, I have no emotional attachment to either car, is that why you keep trying to dismiss my opinion? My GF does have a wrx and even though she came from an older car with a nicer interior, she scoffs anytime I bring up the interior.

Which $25k sports car mentioned in this conversation has alcantara throughout?

Depends how you define "throughout". It's not on every surface, but all the places you'd normally find any sort of fabric in the BRZ are alcantara, and the shifter/wheel/e-brake are leather, so that's all the important contact points covered.

I wouldn't have used "throughout" in this situation.
On the base BRZ, the leatherette inserts are basically in the same areas as the WRX. Steering wheel, shifter/e-brake boots, door arm rests. On the limited, the seats are leather with alcantara inserts and I believe that is it.

I'm yet to sit in one, but I don't expect the interior quality to be any better then the current STI. It's not spectacular, but perfectly adequate.

semantics and accusations from emotion.
Its not an emotional attachment that makes me say the brz has alcantara, nor is it emotion that makes me ask what is your opinion of the genesis coupe's interior. Rather, I'd say your response is more emotional than any else said here (being that you take it I'm trying to disregard your opinion when I only asked your opinion on another car).

All the same, built materials in the BRZ look good IMO (still haven't driven or owned the brz :( ).

@ dsgerbc,
Agreed, the current sti isn't a stellar interior. Every time I'm at my parents house I take the time to move my dads 2011 CTS... That's a nice interior (imo  ). I don't know if its as nice as the genesis 3.8 but...

Always remember, whether cars or computers, you're always paying for the name. Its a shame really :(

Btw, whoever created this thread should really consider renaming it now that we know the car names and whatnot. Might help get more random net search traffic for the Scion FRS or Subaru BRZ or Toyota GT86. Maybe something like GT86/BRZ/FRS discussion?

I kinda like the title, sounds like the most severe brain freeze known to man

I wasn't too aware of the trim levels to be honest, was just going off what I saw at Geneva.

That said, I'm glad they've put cloth/alcantara (depending on trim level) in the places they've put it, as in anything other than luxury cars leather is overrated as a seat material. As soon as you start cornering with any reasonable vigor you start sliding across the damn seat!

For those of us that can't afford a real one right away:

*snip*
I thought that was the actual car for about five minutes. I was about to say "It looks OK, but those enormous hood-pin things (I forget what they're called) ruin the whole thing!"

That's about 30 more horses than my car put down and not much less than I'd get with a T2 swap. Lacks quite a bit of torque compared to the Turbo swap, about 60 torques as a matter of fact.

I think it's safe to say that high revving N/A 4 cylinders are not known for their torque numbers. Not sure why anyone is expecting that to change all of a sudden...

Agreed and its not a problem to me. I loved my civic si with the infamous torque of the k20. No ft.lbs.tq. But plenty of fun.

Luckily I can't afford to get ****ed on the new cars' price. I'll be snagging one for $15,000 here in a couple years. Suckers.

Markups don't tend to happen in the UK really, but buying used is probably my plan too. Unless I happen to get a wonderful and well-paid job some time this year, in which case what better car to buy new than an 86?
