Btw, thanks for posting the link to the auto detailing forum, saw it the other day and since then I've had a nagging feeling I needed to show my car some love. Spent about 2 hours in the sun making sure the car was properly washed, cleaned on the inside, and even the glass got cleaned. Looking very good right now. :sly:

You should check out DRIVE channel on youtube. The new segment they have with one the detailers from AMMO NYC is pretty damn great.

Sweet. So what you're telling me is that I can fit a square setup on there, unlike the one pictured, with a little front camber and a roll and pull. Flat-face front wheels are for sissies - you can't fit 9s under there then you need flares or a different car. That dude didn't try hard enough!

Besides being dropped (just my guess), I'd say that's a good looking FRS. 👍

That said, I don't see the FRS as a 9" type of car, that's overkill on a 2700lbs. car that's not a racer.
 
Watched the whole thing... Had to go back so I could say 55 seconds in, through 1:10 is all I need to see for confirmation that the "truth about cars" could be anything further from its name's sake.

In that short segment I see the Miata go into nervous twitching in place of the other two cars' mid-corner corrections.
I also see the Miata exhibit more body roll than an old mustang!

That review is really lame.
 
I saw one of these today on the road(forget if it was a subaru or Scion version) in downtown Princeton and this car is soo sleek, sexy, beautiful! I was pleasantly surprised by how low and compact it was. Very clean design.

I thought it needed the wing to look good but thats not true at all. Photo's vs the real thing. Always the deciding factory.

The more I see the car in person, the less I'm liking that rear wing. It looks so clean without it.
 
In addition rear wings on your daily driver just scream mid-life crisis.

I wonder if Honda can build a competitor to this thing. For me its a no brainer to just take the HSV-010 concept from SGT and turn it into a cheap light sports car. They are already intent on bringing the NSX back to Super GT so the HSV is either going to disapear into the history books or become a BreezeFees competitor. A civic is just not sporty.They where dumb enough to axe the S2000. Maybe they can redeem themselves.

Makes me wonder why Mazda hasn't fixed it even though Tsuchiya said the Solstice was a better car 2 or 3 years back. :odd: :rolleyes:

Indeed, not surprising at all. In fact, knowing that makes all the difference, now I'm not so inclined to say the reviewer was an idiot as much as a fanboy. :sly:

I think Super GT prohibited MR drivetrains in the GT500 class.

Unless they make it into a GT300 car that is.
 
You know the FR-S/BRZ just isn't practical if you live in a place like Edmonton, I mean I see speed bumps everywhere which just scream disaster waiting to happen because the car is too low to the ground. I'm not saying the car sucks or that it cant be used as a daily driver, I'm just saying to own a car that you have to pre-plan your route to here and there seems to outweigh the purpose of it. A Lamborghini yeah, a 30 grand after taxes car however no.

It is! Probably the biggest source of dynamic alignment change. Get rid of it and now you're looking at miniscule details like chassis flex, bushings, etc. I'm assuming the car would already have high performance tires because who wouldn't have high performance tires.
 
Hasn't Mazda utilized 'dynamic alignment change' ever since the FC RX-7 to promote good handling characteristics? IIRC, the suspension geometry on the FC changes as it compresses, allowing for varying levels of toe-out so you achieve stability in high speed, low load sweepings corners, and agility in tight, high-load technical corners.

I have no problems with speedbumps. The car isn't particularly low.
Now, if one lowers it 2+ inches - that's one's own stupidity he/she will be paying the price for.
 
Nice. Wish they'd supercharge it or something right from the factory.

edit: Eww, it runs on E85. :(

They stopped after the FD. It worked as it should until the car was upset mid-corner and then it would get all wopperjawed and people would crash it. The DTSS system was kept on the hush-hush for a while there. Terrible idea. The problem is that these "high speed, low load" sweepers aren't low load when you're actually going fast. It's called driving at the limit and it's what race cars do. Changing things while you're at the limit is a bad idea.

Speaking of which, they make solid bushings to eliminate the system which I have installed on my car.

In general terms, DTSS provides adequate degrees of freedom in the rear suspension to toe the wheels out at moderate cornering loads, and toe them in at higher (crossover point is 0.4 to 0.5 g) loads. The purpose of this mechanical monkey motion is to give the car a very agile feel at low cornering loads, but keep it directionally stable at higher (read more critical) loads. Traditionally, these have been conflicting requirements, but the DTSS manages to a chieve both goals with a mind-zapping arrangement of links, bushings, levers, and bearings.

Unless Toyota decides to build a new Supra the FR-S has just become the Toyota tuner car..Makes for good pictures. I think the car sits pretty low. Granted I am driving a land cruiser every day...Anything looks low. but the FR-S has an amazing look. They need a factory turbo package to give this thing 300hp and suddenly this car outsells everything and has enough pop. Right now the car is more is too much chassis and not enough engine. Even with the narrow tires people say is still has too much grip.
