What is a Scooby? Is it a nickname for a Subara? And why is it called that?

I asked the same question a while ago so its answered in another thread, but basically: People say Subbi(short for Subaru), then Subbie developed into scooby, then into scooby snack, thats how it was explained to me

For reference, Scooby Doo is a popular cartoon Great Dane, who solves mysteries with his friends (usually involving fairground owners and ghosts - and they would have gotten away with it if it weren't for those pesky kids) - Shaggy, Daphne, Velma and Fred.

It merely rhymes... Scooby Doo, Subaru... Saves a whole syllable too.

I've heard Scooby Roo too. You name it and us idiot Subaru lovers have mangled it into something relating to Subaru.
