The search thing doesn't work.
Probably because it's from invision.
Along with those envapoles.
And I thought invision wasen't thre best?
Hmm

Could you be a bit more specific with your problem? Search is working fine for me. I don't know what you're talking about regarding Invision. Yes our envelopes are from Invision, but we are running vBulletin forum software.

I can't see another thread on this, so I figured I'll ask here:

I'm having trouble searching. I'm not sure if it's a server thing, or just my connectionm but either way, searching is an absolute chore. I have to click Search Now at least 5-10 times because otherwise my browser (Firefox 0.8) simply announces that the search is done. It connects to gtplanet.net fine and then awaits a response but never gets anywhere. With enough persistence my search actually registers and displays but I figured I'd raise the issue. It affects posting too, I find myself having to click the Reply button then sit there and wait to ensure it actually registered. I can appreciate these may just be problems with my connection (512k/128k ADSL) but they only began with the launch of the latest version of the forums, and they haven't gone away as things get up and running. Is there any obvious reason behind this or is it just that the server's overloaded and handling my requests slowly? Do I need to change my time out settings or something?

Eagle, you might want to check your browser settings. Searching and posting is working great for me with Firefox 0.8.

There anything in particular I should check? I can't see anything in terms of connection settings, and I've no problems elsewhere with the settings I run. I can't recall seeing a way to change the timeout or something in Firefox, or is it an XP setting? I should go try posting with IE and see if it's any different.

For Your Information Firefox 0.9 is out on general release now By The Way.

(I could'be shortened that to... "FYI FF 0.9 Rel'd BTW")

I'll have a go when I get home - probably tomorrow after work. I was in a complete daze just then and clicked on the link AT WORK !! We arent even supposed to go on-line let alone d/l stuff !

Well, no I can't really think of anything in particular that would be good to check. But, I don't really know much of anything about Firefox, so maybe someone else can help.

Is FF an internet browser ? If so then is it better than IE ? Why ?
Yes, it's a browser. It's not any better than IE, I just downloaded it the other day to help solve some of the problems it has viewing the site. Why it is such a popular program, is beyond me.

I personally find it to be far more convenient, an inbuilt pop up blocker, a decent password manager, tabbed browsing, I like the bookmarks toolbar, the simplicity of one click to open/close a new tab, it seems quite fast, there are a fair few good points. I've found it struggles with XHTML support however, which may be addressed in 0.9, I was wondering when it would launch, they said it wouldn't come until the new Mozilla core.

Edit: Forget I ever said a thing, I got 0.9 installed and it's lightning once again.

You probably find it of no use and are against it (like me) because you are a web developer... and therefore more browsers = more work testing for compatibilities and therefore coding to work around incompatibilities in browsers!!

The best thing Netscape ever did was release Netscape 5... cos it was utter gash and therefore no-one used it and you didn't have to test for it working on it!!

Has anyone else suggested changing the font color of the "Search" at the top of a thread? Perhaps it should be white, the black doesn't stand out much from the dark blue background.

Either an admin has just changed it, or your browser is kooky. To me, it IS white...
