I'm rooting for a Corvette win this year. Even with the restrictors and weight, they're definately still a threat as long as they run a quick, steady pace without destroying their cars. That's how they won Le Mans last year, and they didn't have pole there, either.

...Is this going to be televised here in the US, and if so, where? I don't have the speed channel anymore (it SUCKS!), is CBS going to be showing it on Sunday?

Although CBS will have about half ALMS races this season, they wont be getting the Sebring race. SpeedSuck has that again this year.

Looks like Speed is taking a NASCAR break. What do you guys think of the race so far?

P1
The pole-sitting #2 Audi had to start from the pits but is now running in 1st and the sister car is running 2nd

P2
Problems for the Porsches... Intersport Lola leads

GT1
A good start for the Aston Martins, but their Pirellis are just wearing down too fast. The Corvettes take over the 1 and 2 spots.

GT2
A great battle as expected! It seems like every time I look, it's a different leader. Live-timing shows the Multimatic Panoz in the lead.

And Toms car is running a very secure 1st place..!..

Btw. Question : Why do you need people fire extinguishers when the diesel Audi pits ?

I'm a bit surprised at how many cars are competing in GT1. There are 2 each of the Astons, Corvettes and S7Rs, but that's it.

And Audi must be quite disappointed with one of their cars retiring. (There are only six cars in that class also, but everyone knows the Audi is gonna win. So its not that surprising.)

The GT2 class is having some fantastic competition. I want that F430 to win!

now for my bids:

P1: Audi Sport North America

P2: Intersport Racing

GT1: Corvette Racing

GT2: Multimatic Motorsports team Panoz

One more hour to go...

In GT2, the Panoz is 36 seconds behind, and they don't need to pit anymore, except maybe a splash and go, but the Porsche needs to fully pit. Interesting race in GT2 which is the show of this year's Sebring.

RACECAR
now for my bids:

P1: Audi Sport North America

P2: Intersport Racing

GT1: Corvette Racing

GT2: Multimatic Motorsports team Panoz

well, I have just struck gold. Congrats to these guys:tup: . some history made with the prototypes, a diesel powered sports car win and a Female driver wins in a endurance race.

BTW, congrats to you Flerbizky for your countrymen winning:tup: .

And the C6-R proves that it's still dangerous this year. Happy 50th anniversary, boys. 👍 Here's hoping you continue to give the rest of the field hell for the remainder of the season. :D

Also, mad props to Tomas Enge for dodging one hell of a bullet in those last few laps. Who says straight line speed means nothing on a road course (granted, Sebring has REALLY long straights, but still)? :sly:

P2: The Penske Porsches look unstoppable but don't count out intersport. they have all the sudden have got more life.

Good call, RACECAR 👍

That was a great race! The Audi has a new look but is still a winner. They did a terrific job showcasing their technology. Sebring is tough on cars, but the R10 proved it could handle it. I can't wait to see it at Le Mans.

Congratulations to Intersport, they outlasted the competition and proved that they weren't going to hand over the class to the newcomers without a fight.

The last few laps were just amazing with the #3 Corvette giving the Aston Martin everything it had for 3rd place. With its Pirellis slowly going away, the Aston Martin managed to hold off the Corvette!

The GT2 class put on a show. Three different cars were fighting for the top spot. Congratulations to Panoz, Risi Competizione, and Flying Lizard! They made the race very exciting. Just imagine the kind of race we're going to get when BMW improves and Lexus joins in. This isn't the GT2 class we're used to...

The American Le Mans Series is certainly looking good for 2006.

Good call, RACECAR 👍
Thank you. it goes to show that no matter how legendary one is or how fast one is, in the end, Reliability and has the last word. at the same time, that with strategy goes hand in hand.

fellas, fellas, fellas,

I'm only gonna talk GT2. Porsche has eight cars entering (or maybe it was eight teams... can't remember), the GT3 RSR is far to developed to be beaten by basically newcomers. Panoz will be the stiffest competition in my opinion because they have had that GTLM for a couple years now and it should be pretty well prepared. (Not to mention it was blisteringly fast in Winter Test Days.) I still can't see the Panoz winning though because of just how tankish those Porsche's are especially with teams like Alex Job and Petersen White Lightning out there.
well, what do you say now? apparently, sebring has showed you that Records are made to be broken.

The excitement of this race is making me wanting the 2005 ALMS mod for GTR.
We already have Sebring, so now to wait for the cars.

Sorry for the OT.

Here's something to mull over; does anyone else suspect that the ALMS may ban the new Michelins that the C6-Rs were running? According to Corvette Racing, the time disadvantage that the restrictors and extra weight was supposed to give them was completely eaten up thanks to their tires.

Indeed, now if only CBS could cover all the great races, esp. at Laguna Seca.
They didn't air Laguna Seca last season, but they got to cover it the season before. Last season, they covered Infineon which they didn't cover the year before. Looks like Infineon is out this year.

The P2 race was close, but Porsche had it won. Then, at just 45 minutes to go, their driveshaft breaks. Tough luck. They should do excellent this year, despite their bad luck and Sebring.

Here's the schedule for this season...

Houston, alright! I'll be able to catch my own state's race then. 👍

I really wish they'd come back to the Speedway though.:guilty:

Man that was a great race. Watched it all, well what speed was willing to show... (Who the hell watched busch qualifying...) The R10 is unstoppable! GT2 was one hell of a race. Those multimatic Panoz's theyr'e canadian right? I saw canadian flags on them. Seeing as GT1 isn't so dominated by Corvette anymore, I'd love to see factory backed viper's back or Oreca vipers, they were my favourite team. I'm sure with factory support the dodge boys could bring the engine size down to 8 litres and dominate the class all over again.

I was impressed with Speed Channel's coverage. They only took 2 short breaks, but there was college basketball so that was alright. :)

ND4SPD, I wouldn't mind seeing the new SRT-10 Coupes in the hands of Oreca either, but they are currently running a Saleen S7R in Europe. It was sad to see Carsport America racing the Viper for the last time at Laguna last year.

Yeah, Bond's latest car was the V12 Vanquish, not the DB9. :sly:
its ironic that not so much about the car, but that fact that it was an aston martin with 007. of all the cars out there, it ended up being the aston.

Did you see the fireworks light up the sky through the windshield of the Corvette? What a sight that was!
