Secret tuning tips?

Does anyone want to give up any secret tuning tips that allow big gains from certain tweaks?

For instance I've learned that the sway bars have the biggest effect on tire degradation (compare to toe & camber). Anything pass a setting of 4 will eat your tires quick'
 
All I ever do is lower by 30-50%, some will tell you its bad but I win online a lot and am in championships on here!

If they were secret why would they tell you? :sly:

I find it best to experiment and find what works for you. I've used tunes from other people that weren't didn't benefit my driving style. Take a run, make a tweak, see what happens.

I haven't found that at all from the ARB's. Perhaps the issue is the rest of the suspension is working against the ARB's inducing tire wear, or because the ARB's are high and the rest of the suspension is working against it, it makes you lose some grip and in GT5, tire wear is at least in part due to lost traction. Slide the tires front or rear and tire wear goes up exponentially. ARB's at 2 and 6 require different set ups for the rest of the suspension to make it work, you can't just adjust them alone and expect it to work well.

I have lots of secrets and tips I've discovered over the months...and they'll likely remain so unless I open a tuning garage...lol.
 
have basic suspension knowledge (e.g. harder rear springs= more oversteer). Observe your car while driving. You can tell if a car's suspension is too hard and low if the car is excessively bouncing on bumpy roads.

Also, keep in mind that extreme settings almost never work, so don't lower the ride height all the way and don't max out the springs/dampers/ARBs. Camber settings almost never exceed 2 for road cars. a little goes a long way for toe values.

Suspension tuning is both an art and a science. You'll get better as you play around with the suspension settings and as you become more familiar with how cars handle and react to changes.

Hami, have you ever compared your tunes with the best drivers on the time trials? I would be very interested to see how your best tune stacks up against the best drivers of the stock setups given in the time trial cars.
 
Right now I'm trying to find more acceleration. I have already turned my rear gear up to 5.0 -5.5 (depending on what chassis), and moved the weight bias back to the rear of the car. I also noticed that with the sway bars softer it seems to pull in a straight line a little better.

I don't have the patience to run lap after lap by myself in a time trial, looking for one perfect lap. I'd rather line up with 15 others and race. I do pretty well racing online. I'm about a 7 out of 10 at driving and my tunes help me to keep up with the leaders in most rooms.
