Anybody beside myself hoping Valentino Rossi's Monster Energy Focus and Peugeot 206 is included?

We have a racecar wishlist.

The WRC license also doesn't give them rights to any of the cars.

I'm guessing they'll have these cars with similar power numbers and such but liveries never meant much to me. It's just a rally peugeot and a rally focus with a vinyl skin afterall.

Are you requesting the liveries of Rossi's car?

Because those cars seem to be already included, we saw the Focus in a promo and that Pug was in GT4.

I would rather prefer the option of choosing a rally/ racecar without any livery ( just plain carbonfibre ) or create my own.

It would be more interesting if Rossi's Yamaha was confirmed.;)

Not liveries per se, but rather cars in the same manner as how his 2005 AVG helmet was unlockable in TT.

But the liveries are what makes his cars different from similar rally cars, the cars are all basically the same, i mean his Focus isn't any different than the other Focus cars.
You are basically requesting a Focus/ Peugeot with his sponsors, that could be in the game if PD decides it should be.

Seeing that not only his helmet but also his suit were available in TT it maybe a possibility, but i wouldn't hold my breath if i was you.

TT was not created by Kaz himself but by an PD-employee ( i forgot his name, sorry ) who was a big motorcycle ( and probably Rossi ) fan.

PD's aquiring of the License does not include liveries or cars, only an official championship. Now the cars themselves will be available as we've already seen in GT4 (Peugeot 206) and in alot of GT5 Pictures and footage( Ford Focus), but only the teams have the rights to those liveries.

The WRC license also doesn't give them rights to any of the cars.

Are you saying PD have done a deal with the FIA for the right to use the championship name and event structure but not with ISC for the right to use the team's, driver's and car's images, likenesses and statistics?

^ I would assume so. You would have to go to each individual team or even sponsors to get the rights to the cars.

I'd rather see old rally cars than the newer types with skin changes, although i'm not against that.

Slightly of topic but about the licence.

I think a lot of WRC stuff will be aimed around GTTV,possibly the option for a years subscription to get access to highlights, behind the scenes access, stuff like that.
Until we get details on how GT will handle WRC within the game,it's difficult to predict anything,be it the cars, liveries, likeness.

I would like a separate section were you buy a car,kit it out,and progress through the junior championships before getting into the WRC proper.but again it's how many rally tracks/stages are in.

If the 20 locations thing does mean countries with 70 tracks, then the rally portion could be huge, but if it means 20 tracks with 70 layouts,I cant see it being anything meaningful, unless all tracks have multiple rally cross stages.
I have mentioned this before, but it would be interesting if Evo studios have helped with this,as they had assets and media from the days of WRC on PS2.And whilst it's likely they are on motorstorm 3,I think Sony have enough spare from all their studios to possibly chip in.

*My ideal scenario*
Sony take small groups from a few different studios,(plenty have been quiet so far) and dedicate them to creating 4 stages each, and over the last few years update the WRC games assets using GT's engine.

It's the only way I can see the licence being used meaningfully within GT5,personally anything less then 12 - 15 dedicated stages wouldn't be worth getting WRC involved, especially if separate licences are needed for each team as mentioned in other posts.

It's times like this I get a little annoyed at PD,I just hope whatever they do with the licence,it's not just a marketing thing.

Not true, International Sportsworld Communicators (ISC) headed by Simon Long are the commercial rights holder for The WRC, therefore the team's, driver's and car's images, likenesses and statistics can be used by them in whatever way they see fit.

A perfect example is that GT5P featured the Ferrari F2007 (the previous years car) not the 2008 as the rights to the 2008 where held by Eccelstone's FOM.

Here is an interesting interview with Long from Mar 19, 2009. Specifically :-

So we can expect to see more content on wrc.com?

There are lots of opportunities. This year the website ran an internet-only stage in Ireland which worked very well. We're testing different formats in terms of quality, logistics and cost and we hope to make the results available on wrc.com or on television. Wrc.com is the playground, if you like. We're looking for the site to become the hub where viewers can come and watch the action from just about any angle. In future that means, quite possibly, more onboards, more live stages and also things like mapping and ways of relating the live splits and timing with a visually live experience. Possibly using webcams at the start and finish of stages, when the cars come into service, live interviews and live vehicle tracking.

The beauty is we have 300 plus hours of content from 12 events this year, so there's a lot of action out there waiting to be unlocked. We're using perhaps six or seven hours of that on each event. There's scope to show all our onboard footage, perhaps as video on demand, and for people to watch only their favourite drivers, events, and access archive material. We want to give users a sense of community and involvement.

Further on the gaming element is something we're extremely keen on. We're having discussions about being able to integrate an 'as live' gaming experience with the rally in real time - and that really will be the 'wow' rally game. As technology and compression rates evolve it's perfectly conceivable within the next couple of years that we'll be able allow the gamer to come in via, lets say, wrc.com through their X-box. They'll be able to compete in their living room live with their favourite driver, and then integrate their performance with the onboards which by then we'd have available as well, and compare their performance against the world's best.

That cars are from 2010?, i seriously doubt if GT5 come with 2010 race cars, besides DLC, anyway, i bet you gona have a Celica WRC `94:sly:

The Peugeot is from before 2010 and the Focus is already in GT5 ( it was shown in a promo ) and several other rally cars shown are 2009/ 2010.

I would assume that to be a part of the WRC as a team, you would have to sign certain rights over to the WRC that allow WRC to detirmine the best way to promote the sport which may or may not include your teams vehicles or drivers. Discussions pertaining details of promotional content and/or advertisement would most definitely be discussed between the WRC and the teams involved on a individual basis.

Thus as PD has the WRC license they would also have been granted access to their pick of the liveries of any WRC vehicle they wished.

A2K78, Let me ask you somethng: Was that Monster Energy Ford Focus you showed even in WRC? I certainly don't recall Valentino Rossi in any WRC events so I'm kinda beginning to think you might have wasted you time asking about that one and the Peugeot 206 showing up at all. If not, then this thread might as well be closed because:

1. PD could aquire that paint scheme without the WRC's permission since it wasn't in WRC to begin with.

2. Peugeot 206 was in the previous GT game so therefore will be in GT5.

Monza Rally Show 2009..WRC cars entered the event and he was in it.

Ok so it was not a WRC event then, which further indicates that its that team that has rights to that livery and not the WRC. Also to back up a point made earlier by someone, what is so different about Rossi's Ford Focus from the Team Abu Dhabi car other then the paint job and the driver? Its for all intensive porposes the same car, same engine, same performance so all you really would need is the livery. No point in scanning essentially the same race car just for a certain paint scheme if it doesn't have even the slightest difference in Aero parts or performance.
