Seiko, the official time keeper of the GT series?

I would like to ask you all...

Do you think Seiko should be the official time keeper?

Do you think there are any other companies better suited to be the official time keeper?

Do you think Seiko is only in the game thanks to Japanese nationalism thanks on the behalf of the developers?

I say, no, yes, yes. :D
I do not think seiko should be the game's time keeper.
I do think there are better companies for the job.
I do think Seiko is in there thanks to nationalism. (or atleast some other unacceptable reason. ;) )

There is a bias in this for me and I will explain that, but...
I think Tag Heuer should be the real time keeper.

Not just because they are the Official Time Keeper of Formula 1 or any of the other sports they serve as time keeper for, but because they are my favorite brand.

(enter the bias)
I have one, posting a picture of the exact watch I have. Color scheme, make, model, polishing, everything... the exact watch.

Basically, I want to know what you guys think.

Why is Seiko the game's official time keeper?
Does Seiko deserve the honor?

Sorry if this is of no interest.
It just eats me up every time I see Seiko at the bottom of the screen. :irked:

Tell me what you think.

I wear no watch, I just use my cell phone to know how late I am :D

But I just don't care if Nokia or Seiko have to be official time keepers.
Sorry :(

Care. Not.

Seiko are official timekeepers for most athletics meetings, and sponsored the Speaking Clock in the UK.

I'll join in with the "Don't care. Nice watch" comments. :D

Yeah, I feel that way about Seiko too. Tag would be good. Maybe even different ones for different races. Like Rolex for the Endurance races. But, I guess it was a money issue.

If i'm correct, then somewhere in the game it says that Seiko do not do the timing in the game.

*Boots up GT3 to check*

Originally displayed in the credits of GT3
SEIKO name and logo are trademarks and/or other intellectual properties of Seiko Corporation and used under licence to Sony Computer Entertainment. The timing data used in the game is generated by Sony Computer Entertainment using its own method and not by Seiko Corporation.
Thought i read that somewhere. Could be typo's as i just copied it off the credits screen in the game. :p

Geez. Good find. ^^^^^^^^^^^

Edit: Yeah, that pretty much means, only for money. Or mostly for money and a little national pride.

i guess its all about who pays the most money and wins the contract..it will probably be a little logo on the screen and the time acually supplied by Sony..(ps2 internal clock)

and i'll jump on the band wagon....i dont care

I have a Seiko, and I don't care either. But, currently I'm wearing my British Military Eplosive Ordinance Disposal Royal Engineer Regiment wrist watch. It's big, clear and accurate. Though, I suppose my Breitling Aerospace watch would be my favorite.

I like watches.

Just for the record Tag Heuer (sp?) don't do the F1 timing anymore as Bernie fell out with them. I believe its Siemens that do all the timing and on screen data now. :)

That's indeed Siemens at the present time. And it used to be Longines before Tag Heuer.
BTW, I had never realized that Seiko was credited on the Gran Turismo timing. :odd:

I only knew because i was bored one day so decided to read *all* of the credits. I think i've read them more than once too. :odd:
