try this when the rpm of your car is on the redline try to push the triangle button it will automaticly change u're gear to a higher one and at low rpm it will change to lower gear 👍

Pressing L2/R2 while using an automatic will allow you to drive the car past the redline until you hit the reve limiter. You can let go of the button to allow the car to shift.

Manual is just easier to use.

Why do people go through the trouble of trying to do tricks with shifting in automatic when you can easily just use manual and do the shifting yourself?

Manual is not that hard. I used to hate manual, but I decided to switch to it because I didn't like the way automatic chose to shift. For example, it will never shift up if the tires are spinning. I like it to shift up in this situation because the lack of power in the higher gear reduces the spinning.

It takes a bit of getting used to, but after a couple laps of Complex String (I love this course as a test course) it becomes second nature. I shift based on my exhaust note rather than the tachometer.

Yeah, I used to drive auto when I was starting out. Heck, I "_tried_" drifting on auto.

And then my friend kept telling me to drive manual because it wasn't that hard. So I tried it and got used to it after a while. And now trying to drift is easier. XD Nah, but seriously. It's better for racing all around.

I thought triangle was reverse...:odd:

yeah i know but it can automacticly change to a higher gear when u're in a high rpm and change to a lower one in low rpm

Isn't hitting the triange button in a race like puting the car in neutral while you drive. Anyway Manual all the way.Sometimes I use automatic in endo races and that depends on what track and car it is.

for sure manual....auto is only good in endo like said by 300zxfairman ......but i really hate the redline form GT3 cuz sometimes u just need a little more and if u shift during the drift it kicks out.... grr...hate that.....lol anyways manual all the way :)

Its the same as pressing the handbrake button. Puts the car in neutral and when you release the button the computer selects the right gear.
Sorry to say but it is old news.

I think you're talking about when you're driving a manual. I do this myself sometimes because I can. When the car reaches redline, I just press triangle and it shifts smoothly (and I also found that the speed increases during the shift as well, more than between shifts). When in a high gear at a low speed, I press Triangle and the gears automatically downshift to the right gear for that speed which can also work for automatics in the game as well.

When the transmission downshifts using this techique, it skips gears rather than downshifting gear by gear. Believe it or not, it's quicker, so in many ways you're not crazy. Manual is easier though.

Here's another thing I found out: When you're driving a fast rear drive car like the Dodge Viper, get as much horsepower as you can into it. Set the ABS levels to 1 both front and rear (with the ASM and TCS off), then spin the wheels. Once the rear wheels start spinning, hit the brakes simutaneously so that the wheels don't stop spinning. After a while, check the replay and you'll see that the rear disk brakes glow very bright orange, more than you usually see them. Do this "trick" in Arcade mode on the Free Run at Laguna Seca in front of the Bosch logos, in the dirt, after the corkscrew turn since the replay camera focusses right onto the car.

But back to the topic--don't get angry when a poster finds something interesting. I think it was very clever he found out another way to shift.
