Know there has been a lot of threads suggesting Ayrton Senna's Mclaren MP-4/5B Formula 1 car. Buy I got to thinking, if they already have Mclaren's logo in the premium dealership, so can they use the old Mclaren? I don't know much about trade marking. Forgive me for my stupidity. I'm just a kid.

The McLaren Road cars and the McLaren Formula 1 cars might have different trademark/licensing departments. FOM/FIA might also restrict which F1 cars can be used. Ferrari might have a special deal that allows them to have their F1 cars in Gran Turismo games or it could just be that Kaz and the PD team haven't had the time or the interest to make the cars. I wish they would include some of the older F1 cars like they did with the older rally, Group C, LMP, and Can-Am cars.

FOM Owns the rights to all Current season F1 cars (Except Ferrari, who have some special deal I think...). Old ones are the responsibility of their respective parent or holding companies. So in theory, McLaren could allow PD to put the MP4-25 or older F1 cars in, but why? It's not an F1 game...

Because it's still a car? Also it's a racecar and GT has many different facets of racing (including F1).

I would love the Can-Am Car! Im a huge sports car fan, so I like it better than F1. But, can you imagine the detail, The way that car would handle, the way it would look PREMIUM, and let's not forget, the wonderful sound that 1200 HP Mclaren-Honda Would make. Imagine driving it through the Monaco Streets on GT5. PD Can capture certain cars accuretly I believe.

As much as I would like it too, it is very unlikely that such a thing will happen. And yes, I suppose they still are "Cars" but since theres already a dedicated game to F1, I think it would be hard to justify the time spent on that versus the time spent on modeling something they could obtain more easily. I'd love for there to be an abundance of F1 cars, but the fact is that isn't likely to happen.

Yeah true. I want more GT, LMP, and Group C Cars.

I would pay a ton if this was to happen.. Sadly the chances are slim.

They had the Mclaren MP4/4 in GT3 (as the F688), so the possibility is always there if both Mclaren and Polyphony Digital are willing.

Yeah I heard something about that. GT3 was the First one I played when I was like 5 or 6 lol

Ferrari is also one of the few companies that builds both chassis and engine for f1... For McLaren to have an f1 in would require Mercedes to accept as well...

The licencing for F1 cars is all owned by the FIA or FOM or Bernie Ecclestone. (Apart from Ferrari). So GT cannot have any F1 cars old or new. Otherwise, I hope we'd see Hondas, Mercedes, Toyotas, Renaults, Lotuses, Red Bulls, McLarens and BMWs etc as they're all manufacturers in the game.
But then I'd also be happy to see formula Ford or formula Renault single seater race cars or the Lotus Ex-F1 car that you can buy.

I don't think Bernie has the licensing for the really old F1 cars, but I don't know if there are many others out there that would like to drive a 1950's Alfa F1 car.

McLaren have used a lot of engines in their past, the one the OP is talking about had a Honda engine, but you are correct, PD would probably have to get permission from both to use the car (that is, if Bernie lets them).

We have to remember all the sponsors and logos on the car. They would all need to be accepted and licensed into the game otherwise the car would just be blank. There's too much to be done.
