Sequential Shifter for G27 running GT5 on PS3

The one thing I miss most moving from a Logitech DFGT to a G27 is the the lack of a sequential shifter when running GT5. I know there are work arounds in the PC sim world but I haven't found anything yet for the PS3/GT5 world. There may already be a thread out there somewhere that shows how to do this - if so I apologize for posting this question.
Has anyone tried creating a sequential shifter using the connections to the paddle shifter switches? Is this even possible? Or could you use an additonal PS3 controller and mod it into a sequential shift maechanism and make it work? Would you run this thru the additonal USB port on the PS3? My electronic expertise is minimal at best so I may be asking impossible questions :)

Thanks VileFCboy. That is an option - although it means I'd have to find a G25 shifter unit to make it work. I'll have to start watching ebay I guess. I'm still wondering if there's a mod to the actual G27 wheel itself that would work?

That I'm not sure but hopefully someone here will have an answer for that. As I'm waiting for my G27 to be at my door today. :dopey:

It's definitely possible to make your own PS3 compatible Sequential Shifter.

you would need to make a button box, and make your own sequential shifter (you might be able to buy a DSD shifter and mod it).

It's easy enough in theory to make your own SS, just put a rod in a box (that's what she said), add springs on both sides of the bottom to get the right resistance and return-to-center, and then put a switch on each side, so when you pull the shifter, it hits one switch, when you push the shifter, it hits the other.

just wire those two switches up to your button box, or, if you don't want to DIY a button box as well, you can solder the switches to 2 unused buttons on the G27 shifter box. (I think you can set the shifter buttons to shift up/down but I can't remember)

Re: Chilicoke

EDIT: OR try something like this, and wire up the switches to the shifter or button box

or just in case you have not come across it, the easiest is probably the "rubber band mod". :-)

Sorry, just realised rubber band mod would not work for GT5.

If you want to use the shifter with all ps3 games then it needs to be wired directly to the g27 paddle shift system, its actually pretty easy... I followed this method:

I can vouch the above works nicely :-)
