I keep getting a server error saying: "A connection to the server could not be established.(ID = 1:536)

I have tried everything: clear cache, restart PS3, restart modem, clean disc. Nothing is working. Does anybody have idea on how to fix this?

Thanks.

PSN is the system having problems. It's not just you so don't worry. I should be back online soon. I've had this problem today and so have others.

OK but I have had this problem for the past 2 or 3 days. I hope it comes back soon. Do you have any ideas on how to fix it??

I don't know how to fix it, no. If it's still not working in a few days time, if you can hang in there that long, you can assume it's something other than the PSN causing the issue.

It has been announced that a new seasonal will be out Monday so I would expect it to be back online at that date.

OK I don't think it's PSN as I can play other games online fine.

I have been getting this error on and off for the past few months. It's not psn as all other games work fine. I have give up trying to play now. Game will just collect dust from now on

I've been unable to sign into PSN today. Quick Google told me there was scheduled maintenance a few days ago so it might just be a bit iffy still or maybe different continents have different maintenance schedules. It's just encouraged me to have another go at golding the Eiger Grand Tour, rather than grinding the Ferrari La Sarthe seasonal for cash.

Only thing that annoys me about GT5 when the PSN is down is that I get asked three times if I want to sign into PSN when I start the game up. Seriously? How about you listen the first time? No - I do not want to sign into PSN because it's screwed! Stop asking! [/rant]

GT5 servers are wacked they need to do some serious maintenance on them. They have issues that are causing alot of players problems and they just don't seem to care about it. They will never admit there is a problem and leave everyone in the dark and have them doing all sorts of things on there own trying to solve there problem. You know they read these forums and are aware of player problems how hard would it be to have someone get on here and say we have a problem and we are working to correct it. Or tell these many players what they need to do to solve there problem.

Agreed. Their servers are rubbish. Also some people on my FL are playing GT online.

I have loads of people on my friends list playing. They work for some and not for others. I never used to have any problems with there servers but I'm lucky if I can get on at least once a month

If its still not back up the reason is likely the same as for UK ISPs....
UK ISPs are having major routing Errors caused buy cheap third partys internet backbone equipment companies are using.
If your ISP provides Proxy services to fix these, you may need 1 for your ISP

Virgin media do provide this service as an example in UK.

webcache.virginmedia.com
Port 8080.
is entered in to the PS3 network set up.

and GT5 online comes back...

Nothing has changed with my Internet connection and I use virgin media. I know it's not the Internet as all other games work fine it's gt5 burned out servers

Did you try setting the proxy yet?

I had problems as well shortly after the maintenance, but those were PSN related, not GT related. Apart from PSN, the only problems I ever had with online connectivity were on my side (torrent client having > 2000 active connections, router load > 2).

You have high jacked some one elses topic the post was not meant for you.
But if you go to Community.Virginmedia.com You will read that VM have been having troube for over 5 months and have moved USERs around there network to tempary fix the problems. They only had a tempary fix about 3 months ago. Users had to suffer 2 months of bad internet.
THEY MOVED ME ON THURSDAY to an effected Server network as my area is now over loaded with an update to my Modem. Which means I needed the update to fix GT5 as the Servers are now effected.
When i ADD the proxy it now works. remove the proxy it fails.
I NEVER needed it before ether...Now I do.
