Set of Tires that last more than 10 laps??

WTF are u talking about? Sorry my rudeness, but I have not been able to last a single race with 10 laps without wearing too much the tires. The only set of tires that lasted more than 10 laps were the Super-slick ones, and I was driving very carefully! :mad: Trying to go through the curve rather than around it. I remember it. I was driving the RUF CTR, and that car has way too much understeer. Forget telling me that u lasted like 20 laps without pitting with medium tires :rolleyes: , because that is a lie. :(

What car were you driving?

I ran one of the two hour events in a standard Dodge Viper and ran the superhard slicks for 20 laps, and could have quite comfortable done another five or so.

The mediums will NOT last that long. Simple as that.
 
It very much depends on the car. In the roadster endurance, I did better than 35 laps on one set of tires. But keep in mind that a Miata doesn't have enough torque or braking power to wear on a set of hard tires nearly as fast as a Formula 1 car does.

Well, so far, I have tried powerful cars, that maybe is the reason. The Toyota GT-one road car, the RUF CTR, and other ones. Super-slick will last a lot but it takes time to warm them up. :o
 
That is true, but it gives you a huge advantage in the enduros.

Interesting point on the Miata and the light cars. I wonder how long superhard tyres would last on one of the 'kei' cars?

Mmmm, sounds like a challenge once I finish the game...
 
Depends on how smooth you drive + how fast.

I had a 460 HP Tuscan Six (no suspension mods) that I used repeatedly trying to get the Silver Vanquish from the British GT. I kept doing the Rome Circut over and over on Medium-Slick, and I found the faster (better) I drove, the better off the tires were. At lap 9, they were still yellow! on the 10th, my Right front was slightly orange. 13.58.006 If anyone is interested :)
 
You could use a harder compound of tire, this can give upto (in my experience) 35 laps.

Another reason you cannot go more that 10 laps may be down to your driving style. I often see others racing around the track braking during the corner. The correct method is to slow down BEFORE the corner, this transfers the weight and inertia of the car to the front tires providing better grip during cornering. This method saves the tires as they are not doing two tasks at the same time i.e. turning and braking.

Also I you are using the D-pad on your PS2 controller convert to the analogue stick(s). This gives better control and helps eliminate over turning of the tires which leads to over-wearing.

Try finding a better suspension set up. This can help decrease tire wear. Pay particular attention to camber.

well, it depends of how you drive, what you drive, and where you drive... the same car on a different track will have different tire wear... When i did the Cote D'azur enduro with my Gt-One race car, i managed to do 36 laps on 1 set of tires... but during another race on Apricot Hill with the same car, i could only do 19-20 laps per set...

still, 36 laps is enormous!!!
 
I've noticed some tracks consume tyres more quickly.

From memory, I think Monaco and Seattle are very easy on tyres (which would reflect real life, as public road circuits are traditionally easy on tyres), but a couple, going from memory, like Grand Valley and Apricot Hill, are very hard on tyres.

I have a different opinion of Monaco. It seems to chew threw my tires at amazing speed. I always thought that came from the hard cornering, acceleration, and braking that Monaco throws at a car.

By the way, I still have 3 time trials and the 78 Lapper at Monaco to go ... how about you, Vat Man?

I don't know of a single track that eats tires faster than Apricot... except Trial Mountain perhaps.

Im almost positive that huge sweeping turns and sliding is what kills tires more than anything, and Apricot has how many of those, at least 3 big sweeping turns and the sliding section after the 1st chicane. And damn does that dirt ever gouge them ;)

Two Enduros - the Longest Night event (why will no-one tell me how long this race is?), and the Rome 2 hour.

I should knock one of them over tonight, and the other tomorrow.

I can't claim kudos for beating you though - as you may recall, some months ago I begged off your invitation to 'race' to the 100% due to it being summer in Sydney - and being the 'honourable' individual I am (stifle your laughter) I therefore can not laud it over you.

I started on Monaco again ... but did some quick math at lap 20-ish and realized that I wasn't making enough ground to be ahead at the end, due to my horrid pit cycle. I'll be starting it again tomorrow evening. Then it's those dreaded Time Trials. I did take another 1.5 seconds off of TT10, and about 0.2 seconds off of TT8.

I have noticed that different tracks wear down tires differently, the type of car you are driving certainly does make a difference, high touque cars, rwd (FR & RR), and heavy cars tend to wear down the tires quicker (in my experience).

Grand Valley, Apricot and Trail Mountain are by far the most demanding on tires. AH has lots of quick chicane type and long corners (mostly left turns!) and TM like f1King is very demanding cause of the long left handers.

I'm gonna have a go and try and beat my 35 laps without a pit-stop.

Clocking up another night on GT3!

Well, I knocked over the SS11 Longest Night enduro last night (only 50 laps - it was a short one), so I have one event to go - the 2 hour Rome event!!

What happened to your big plan to win a heap of F1 cars at once?
