Setting up cars for drifting......

I noticed that there are a lot of settings for cars to make them drift, I was just wondering, do you have to have a car set up a certain way to make it drift on GT IV?

Why cant you just make it drift without setting it up to do so? Is that possible?

It's quite possible to drift stock cars in GT4, just fit some N tires and turn off the aids. Some stock cars are very hard to get sideways though.

If you want to get into exhibition style drifting, then you might need to tune your car. General tips for easier drifts include stiff front, soft rear and high LSD accel. For more specific setups check the stickies (settings depot and strategies thread), just remember to try different setups to find out what suits you.

There are quite a few threads on the first couple of pages that give good in-depth views on specific areas of tuning, so don't expect this thread to live long

I got some settings for one of the RUF cars, it is a little hard to get it to drift especially for me. I have never tried to make a car drift in my life. Thanks for the reply dude!

..It's more to it then just that. I reccomend playing around with cars we already know that could drift easily eg. Silvia S13 K I think, but get the one with 212 power from the start... Perhaps ....(GO TO TUNER VILLAGE, any company would do, put everything to the max, such as the special suspension , and stage 5 turbo which is called 'original' , DO NOT PUT ANY INTERCOOLER because of the turbo lag, and put S1 tires. That should be an already set drift car for you, once you have that, play around with the suspension settings and go from there just to get an idea.

What?? You say "put on a stage 5 turbo", then say don't put on an intercooler because of turbo lag? That makes no sense. It's "turbo lag", so the turbo is going to give you the lag And a better idea is to get an S2000 with around 300hp and N1 tires, or any year Silvia with around 250hp and N1 tires. You don't wanna go high-horsepower and S tires when you're learning, because the speeds and snapback from too much countersteer will be way too high. The S2000 and Silvias will drift beautifully with no mods at all other than bumping up the horsepower a little and putting on N1 tires. The rest is overkill, and is only necessary for fine tuning, it will just overcomplicate the learning process

large intercoolers can add to turbo lag. Read the parts description on the large intercooler or whatever it's called.
