Setting up XBox live

I've just recieved my XB360 today, but I'm having trouble setting it upto live. When I do a netwrok test it okays everything upto somethig called MTU which is something I've never heared of before no do I know anything about it over what the nifo tab on the console says, it say's change your MTU settings, welll thanks, but how? :lol:. My connection is a 2meg BB cable connection with the a digital settop box from NTL (the silver ones) if anyone has any advice of help that would be much appreciated.
 
I would say buy a router if you want an more easy way and wired, or you could use an either net cable to share your 360's connection with your PC.

Or you could try to find a spare phone socket, which can run broadband. And then plug the 360 into the spare phone socket. But once you sort out your live account, plz PM me your gamercard name Live.

Edit: I just remembered someone I know who has silver account on NTL, is not allowed to connect to it because its a silver. Maybe because it is a caped connection.
 
I'm on NTL and it ran pretty much straight away apart from having to change a setting or two on the wireless router. It IS wireless though unlike you, but I doubt that will make any difference. Sorry I can't help anymore, I've never heard of MTU either. :odd:

Edit: Heh, just looked it up myself. It says you need to look in your gateway or router manual to find how to change it. It needs to be at least a setting of 1364.
 
Just a little update, I had to buy a router to get my set top box to recognise XBox live, but now it does and I'm all ready and set to game online now.
 
Is it a wireless or wired router, if its wireless use the wired connection for both your set top box and 360. Plus setup the wepkey if it is Wireless, another good thing is if it is wireless.

You can buy other gadgets for a wireless router, if they work with WiFi. But let me guess your buying a gold account on 360 live.
 
I's a wired one, I could have got a wirelsee but th transfer rate to cost ratio wasn't as good as the wired ones and I have enough trouble with technology without getting more gadgets I don't need :lol:.
