Hi Guys,

Antirollbar-F:11
Antirollbar-R:11
Spring-F:11
Spring-R:11
Camber and toe:max left
Frontwing and Rearwing: about middle

Do this and the whole game is a mess. drs open in eau rouge etc.
Some guys in online mode drive these setup, so don't worry if some drive 1:19 and lower in melbourne online.
Nothing to do with driving skills

Tested with all driving aids off.

Please codemaster make it possible to bann all setup tweaking in online mode.
Thanks

Best regards

DarkPSI

The dumbest thing they could have done was post about it. Now, everyone will see it, know how to do it, and run it in-game.

Honestly, what were you expecting? That everyone would be honourable about it? One race online should have shown you that most players are happy to ram others off the road if they think they can make up a position because of it.

Agreed. Really, why post this?

Smart move.

And if everyone will see it, everyone will run it, and it will become a level playing field.

That is why I only race with people I know.. Because I know they're not cheating 🤬

This sucks :(, that means I'll hardly win any races now due to it being widely known 🤬

Yeah, I realized that the people on the leaderboards are taking off-track routes to pull some of those times, in addition to the setup thing.

True, but if no one talked about it, Codemasters themselves would be unaware of it, and it would remain in the game and continue to plague it.

In regards to banning setting up your cars online, I like my freedom in regards to that, setup is majorly important to me. So long as it's optional, because the days of F1:CE where tuning was impossible online, I struggled.

Remember GT 5 Prologue had some setting `fixes`for cheaters to take opportunity of, just need fair friends

Who woulda thought setting up the car can make you faster?!

Who woulda thought setting up the car can make you faster?!

Yeah, we should all message Adrian Newey and give him this setup so that Vettel can be FIVE F-ING SECONDS FASTER WITH NO EFFORT. :dunce:
Do you see why we're disappointed now?

Those settings cause the car to have insane grip levels - that's by no means intended...

Oh I got it now... you upset because you are playing a freeking game and not racing a real car???? is that it????

He can be FIVE F_ING SECONDS FASTER WITH NO EFFORD if he has a good setup and cuts all the corners and chicanes in that track (Like the guy in the video) and doesnt get penaltys... now thats what Im really worried about... how can a guy cut 8 or 9 corners in one lap and not be penalised or get his lap time invalidated... thats what really worries me in the GAME... because thats what it is - a game and not a F&%$& sim...

People are right to be annoyed when they spend 90 quid on bad software, this bug exposes that the whole game's car setup code is flawed and has to be redone from scratch, they can't just eliminate this exact set of settings and ones close to it.

My Silverstone setup in iRacing gives me 3 seconds on the fixed setup. I gain around 1-3 seconds from this setup compared to a default. Perhaps the top cars gain more from it (I only play in career mode with a Williams), or perhaps the fact that it makes the car easier to drive is making up for most peoples lack of ability to get the most out of the default setups.

Like I said, who woulda thought that setting up the car can make you faster?!

Lastly, why are you expecting a sim? It was never intended nor meant to be a proper sim.

Maybe you dont cut the corners... because if you did you could probably get one or two more seconds out of it.... that is what worries me about the video... the guy spends a quarter of the time on track with all 4 wheels outside the white line and doesnt get one single warning or lap time invalidated...

On the back of my F1 2011 box there is a quote from the Sunday Mirror (UK newspaper) "THE BEST RACING SIM IN THE BUSINESS". So ok no one really cares about the newspapers opinon but how can Codemasters put this on the box if they never intented this game to be a racing sim. TBH I like the game but it's not a racing sim and they have a long way to go if they want to be the best racing sim in the business.

CM's likes to take liberties with the truth, no doubt about it.

Official F1 2011 Website
• Unprecedented authenticity. Codemasters has used its unprecedented access to the world of FORMULA ONE to connect the development team directly with FORMULA ONE teams and tyre manufacturers. Extensive consultancy has taken place with a range of FORMULA ONE professionals, including race engineers, mechanics and drivers. This has been combined with real world data including CAD and on-board telemetry to deliver a race experience complete with authentic handling, accurate circuits and precisely modelled racing cars.

Or worse depending on one's perspective.

Because newspapers are the go to place for games and simulators, and everything in general! Newspapers are very reliable sources of information!

I'm not sure how cutting corners has anything to do with gaining time from a setup? I can cut corners and gain a few seconds without touching the car settings, where is the connection? iRacing claim to be the top racing sim game, their Formula 1 car drives like a slightly more punishing and over sensitive version of F1 2011. Personally I think that F1 2011 got the handling model pretty nailed for a game, while toning it back enough so that non hardcore sim racers can play it. I honestly think they did a fantastic job of this F1 racing game, if you want a simulator then you should know better than to buy a mass market codemasters game.

Thats not my point.....I don't care about what the newspaper said it's the fact it's on the back cover of the game. You said this was never intended to be a proper sim.....then why do codemaster have this on the box...if they never intened this to be a proper sim. Fact is codemasters tried to make this a racing sim and failed If this was a true racing sim what ever setup I use in game should replicate how this would change the car in real life.

I agree the handling feels pretty good on the preset setups in the game but as I have never driven a F1 car so I couldn't say if this is a good simulation of the real thing or not. I just think F1 is pretending to be something it's not and this has not pleased the hardcore F1 fans who where expecting something a bit closer to the real thing and a little less NeedForSpeed.

F1 2011 is a long way from Need For Speed, it genuinely feels not far off from all of the other highly rated F1 simulators out there, only less punishing and slightly less sensitive. If you set the car to expert settings and keep out of time trial mode then I honestly can't see what people have to complain about, the cars in career mode are spot on.

It is a game, so that hardcore edge needs to be taken away, they want to keep people in the race after they make a mistake, they don't want people crashing 5 times a lap because they made tiny mistakes. If they sold the game with the level of simulation you saw in a Hardcore simulation then about 90% of the people who bought it would not last a lap without the ammount of practice that would turn most people away.

This game is aimed at F1 fans, but most F1 fans aren't hardcore sim racers or real racing car drivers. The bottom line is they wanted to get a game out that they didnt have years to spend refining the physics (such as all of the simulators out there have done - Rfactor, iRacing, Netkar), and a game that everybody could play. Considering this, they have done a fantastic job but even with that said, many non sim racers think the game is too hardcore.

If you're driving in Time Trial mode then I feel for you, because it is miles away from the quality of the Career mode driving, and if you're driving without the settings set to "expert" then you only have yourself to blame.

I really like the game there are loads of settings in the career mode which you can change to make it harder or easier, you can challange your self as much or as little as you want. I think it's more fun racing the ai on F1 than on GT5, but racing online on gt5 is so much better.

In gt5 you can tune your car to suit the track and your driving style in order to gain an advantage, but this is where F1 lets it self down the fact that you can use drs open in eau rouge with this setup pretty much says it all.
Just makes you wonder if codemaster lost all info they collected from the engineers......

Anyway who's cares if Codemaster wanna fix they'll fix it if they don't they won't end of story. They'll most likely be working on 2012 in the next few months so chances are they'll be focused on how their going to get your £40 next year :)

If it wasnt banned then there is a good chance drivers would have used DRS through eu rouge, similar to how they used the F-duct while driving one handed through there last year. It wasn't allowed due to safety reasons, they pretty much knew that the drivers (for example in Red Bull) would have used it. So using DRS through eu rouge at Spa is not so unrealistic as you might think, only that it was not allowed for safety reasons.

I love how people pretend that a real F1 sim would actually be drivable by mortals. I seem to recall a feature on the BBC coverage a couple of races ago where they stuck Coulthard, Christian Horner and Jake in the Red Bull sim rig. It's probably a fair assumption that the RB rig will be basically state of the art, the best sim that is technically possible today.

Jake couldn't drive it to save himself.

I'm not knocking his skills, that would probably be the result were most normal people to try and drive the thing. It's just way beyond our ability, and it's not even the slightest bit fun. No doubt there's a market out there for a serious SERIOUS sim like that, but I bet you it's bloody small.

Given this, it's obvious that any F1 game is going to have to be dumbed down at least some amount in order to be accessible. In my opinion, CM did a good job of striking a balance between drivability and the characteristics that make F1 cars unique. You can feel the downforce, the temperature and wear of the tyres, the edginess, the throttle control needed. It simulates the parts of the experience that people want to enjoy at a level that they can deal with them.

No, it's not full sim. But nothing is, really.
