Well, I'm having trouble transfering saves and I can't make hybrids!!!! It's not the sharkport that's the problem. My PS2 will not read the Blue Bottomed disks anymore. The Sharkport disc is blue. Does anyone know if the X-port or maybe the newest sharkport uses a DVD-Rom Disk?? Because those will work. Or, is there a card reader that I can plug into my computer, i.e. Dex Drive?? I would like that so much better. Help please, I wanna drive my 'brids.

Did you get a new PS2? A couple of the newer model 50K series units will not read the sharkport disc. Ther have been multiple threads here explaining how to resolve that.

If you have a ps2 that is just no longer reading the disc, perhaps you should open it up and clean the laser lens. They tend to accumulate dust.

I bought mine close to their release. It's pretty old. DVD's and DVD rom games play but not the blue ones. Also, I used a lens cleaing cd twice. Would it be better to clean the lens by hand?? ANy special way I should clean it??

Not really...I would avoid putting your fingers on the lens, due to the oils in your skin. You will see the dirty lens just use a q-tip or something to remove the dirt or dust. Hopefully that will help. After opening the outer case, which entails removing 6 screws I believe and cutting the seal on the side, you will have to remove a protective cover plate over the laser with a small phillips head screwdriver. Make sure you have a back-up screwdriver for this, because that thing is usually on there pretty tight. lol And I have heard reports of people stripping multiple drivers trying to remove it.

Cool, thanks man. I'll do that. Only one thing though. Why would dust cause it to not read only the Blue disks. Seems like it would not be able to read anything at all. I can watch movies, play audio cd's, and the DVD rom disks. That's wierd. I'll clean the lens and see what happens. If that doesn't work, I'll just scrap the thing and get a new PS2. Thanks again.

Well, it works!!! Not everytime, but way better than before. Thanks a lot man. Cleaning it really did help. Yes!!!Now I can make some more hybrids, and back up my newer saves.

sounds like your cant remember whats its called but there is a little plastic gear that moves your laser assembly and it will slip and deppending on how far it slips you can loose the ability to read just the blue discs or the black ones so you might want to realign that gear that is what causes most of ppl disc read error and then when they clean the lens when they take it apart the bump it partway back to where it is supposed to be and they think all it was was a dirty lens if you keep having problems start another thread and ill talk you threw realigning your gear or anyone else that needs help fixing that problem ive been lucky so far have had my ps2 over a year and havent yet had to take it apart and clean or realign the gear but my friend has had to do it like 3 tiimes now he bought his ps2 when gt3 came out and was bundled with the ps2
