Got the third screen connected today, needed a DVI-HDMI cable and a DP-HDMI adapter as SLI + three screens is a bit funky - in order for SLI to work in extended desktop mode with all three screens active they have to all be connected to the same card, but SLI+Surround requires at least one screen connected to the second card. Obviously you can see the problem there.

SLI extended desktop was more important to me than Surround, so the need to physically change the card one of the screens is plugged into in order to enable/disable Surround is acceptable if a bit annoying. Maybe in a driver update one day...

Driver oddities aside, it's now what I am more than happy to call "complete". My thirst for MOAR POWAAAAHHH has been sated. :)

Total estimate spent: >$3500 NZD

Link to full part list in signature, if you're lazy the basics read as follows:
Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H motherboard
i5-3570K at 4GHz
8GB Corsair Vengeance CL9 RAM
128GB Samsung 830 SSD
Two 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3s - retained from my previous build
3TB Western Digital Black
Two Gigabyte GTX 670 2GB video cards in SLI - factory overclocked, small manual overclock on top of that
Three Viewsonic VX2460H 24" 1920x1080 2ms TN LCD displays

Cost: $$$lots.

I quite like how innocuous the whole thing looks, too - the Corsair 500R is a fairly simple case in its design so it's not one you'd expect to find two monster video cards stuffed into :)

Looks great. I love the design of those monitors too, nice and thin. Jelly of the dual 670's!

Sharky, you know what really needs upgrading now.... your desk :)

You need some glass and aluminium job to complement the powa!

Desk will be getting replaced once I get my own place, I assure you

The bit where the left-hand screen sits is a DIY extension that I needed to fit three screens not only on the desk but in my room, period - a larger desk wouldn't have fit anywhere so I had no option but to extend this rubbish one!
