If anyones got it, how ya finding it. i thought it was abit difficult to pick up on but a quick board change solved that. Quite fun overall though.

Not played it but was considering buying it for a while. I heard that at first they stress real life type physics but as you progress you unlock things like super-speed or super-jump, which I think would totally take away from the realistic thing they were going for.

Other than that though, I heard going down the mountains and just going all over the place is alot of fun. I think this may be a renter for me though.

I heard the mountains would be huge so it seems like it could be fun. I'll rent it sometime.

I bought the game the day after release. I was very hopeful. It's been a long time since a "good" snowboarding game has been around. It has been even longer since a "simulation" snowboarding game has graced consoles (Winter X Games for PS2 was the last in my memory).

I was hopeful....

I wanted to like it. Really wanted to like it. Alas, like many games, it tries to do too much, and thus loses focus. Each aspect of the game feels unfinished. It's trying too hard to be the GTA of the snowboarding world.

The physics/controls are another issue. The developers didn't seem to know what they wanted the game to be. They couldn't decide if it was to be a simulation or arcade affair. So, it's ended up a mish-mash of the two genres. The controls try to be similar to EA's "skate", but some minor differences ruin an otherwise decent control scheme. So, the controls are catering a bit to the "sim" crowd, while the board physics are very much "arcade". It's incredibly difficult to screw up a landing. Pretty much any angle you land at will magically have you ending up sailing smoothly on. Call me crazy, but this takes away from the gratification of landing a difficult trick of any sort, and ultimately killed it for me.

If you're more a fan of SSX than Amped (or Winter X Games), than you may find some enjoyment in it. Otherwise steer clear.

;)

Considering that most sports games are going more towards simulation and coming up with more intuitive ways to play (Skate is a good example which springs to mind) I think the Shaun White and also Tony Hawks series' need to up thier game.

Im not all that big on snowboarding games but I was interested in this when I saw the beautiful screens but after reading some of the reviews I saw that although the open world idea was good in theory wasnt all that well implemented and maybe other parts of the game suffered as a result of focusing on making it too many things.

Having said this I havent played it yet so it may well be enjoyable if you look at it from a more arcadey angle.

Robin.

Well so far i only know of two glitchs, the money glitch and i fell through the bottom of a mountain once and just kept falling. Did loads of grabs but still didn't get the trophy.:grumpy:

wow, this is more fake than amped 3? I hear this is full of glitches too

It's feels more arcade than sim definitely. Don't listen to reviews saying it's on the side of simulation. They could not be more wrong.

The open world is one of the worst parts of the game. Finding that little icon (and not blasting right past it) is damn near impossible. I found myself walking up the mountain more times than I deem acceptable in a "snowboarding" game.

;)

I love the open world, thats the best bit for me. Although it annoys me that if you have the right board you can do a backflip on a gently slope without any take-off lip or bump.
