Good call - the Syclone came out in 1991, but it was dropped along with the Typhoon in 1993. I've no idea how that got by me.
But the Jimmy and the Blazer are the exact same except for the badges, the front bumper and the grille.
How could you say that!? The wheels! By god, the wheels!!! The Bravada, Jimmy, Envoy, Blazer, Trailblazer, Rainier, and Ascender have all had some pretty good-looking wheels over the years, but easily the best were exclusive to the 1992-1994 GMC Jimmy 5-door, which were these:
The Blazer had similar wheels for the period, but Jimmy's were either silver or (like above) charcoal gray, which are easily the coolest things ever. Just look at that! One of my neighbours used to have a dark blue '94 with those wheels, it was so damn good-looking. 👍
Some peole have taken stock Typhoons / Syclones and ran them on a dyno and got numbers more like 290-320 HP.
I used the rated figure because I really don't know, but I have no trouble believing it got more than 280 - the current Trailblazer makes 275bhp, and it weighs 1000lbs more - yet its 0-60 is double the Typhoons. Typically I don't believe it when people say that manufacturers under-rate vehicles, but in this case I'd make an exception based almost completely on the fact that I've driven a Typhoon.
And you really should get a typhoon..then you can come over to Blazinlow and everything will be great
Heh. One of the things I like about the Typhoon is that it had 4WD, but I'm not wild about the price, there aren't many nearby, (though I have no trouble travelling to pick one up) and ground clearance is pretty weak - and considering it would live at my 'vacation' house in rural, mountainous, cold, wintery Maine, that's a big issue. It's coming down to the Typhoon, the 2002-2003 BMW X5 4.6is, the 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71, and the 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9 Limited.
